Apple Watch Series 6: Apple watch series 6 LTE sensor assembly ONLY replacement.

Hi guys,

The blood sensors on my Apple watch series 6 LTE suddenly decided to die.

No visible lights come from the sensors, none of the measurements work.

I did several shutdowns, force-restarts, hard-resets, let battery die and recharge, nothing changed.

The rest of the watch function is not effected.

I am perfectly able to do the repair the common way (open the whole watch and replace the entire back with the sensors), but i would prefer not to, as the repair is always messy, and always leaves the watch "scared" inside.

Can the sensor assembly alone be unglued from the back of an Apple watch with some heat and some isopropyl alcohol?

A picture from the net as an example:

After that it's just connecting a single connector and gluing it back.

Apple Watch Series 6: Really, what’s up with 3rd-party apple watch screen prices?

The price of 3rd-party replacement screens is often close to the same price that Apple charges for an official repair. Once you add a small labor charge, it often ends up costing more.

4/5 of my customers walk out saying “ I might as well just buy a new one“ and can you blame them? Who wants to pay more for a generic screen?

Apple Watch Series 6: Can you provide cell dimensions and weight for 40mm Apple Watch 6?

I love your teardowns and generally the information is quite useful.

I’m specifically looking for more information on batteries dimensions and have a couple requests. These would be pretty easy for you to do and would really helpful to many of us. And would save us having to purchase an entire product just to get more detailed battery info.

1) When you remove the batteries, could you show a close up of both the front and the back of the battery? There’s a lot of good info on the labels/markings showing nominal battery dimensions.

You (accidentally?) show the back of the Watch 6 (44mm) cell during the teardown - in step 3. This shows the actual cell dimensions (462027 - 4.6 x 20 x 27 mm), which is more exact than the nominal battery pack dimensions shown on the front (ICP5/21/28). This is especially important for the thickness, to estimate cell energy density.

2) Would be super helpful if you could measure and list the cell dimensions. I understand these won’t be exact since the batteries may have been bent/deformed depending on how hard they are to remove. This would help determine more exact battery dimensions.

Thanks and keep up the great work!

Apple Watch Series 6: Apple Watch series 6 44mm display failed. How to repair it?

Watch series 6 44mm display suddenly went black. Sound and haptics still work, but display is shot. No impact, cracks, or water exposure. How can I control the watch or repair it?

I engaged Apple Support via online Chat agent. Since there is no display capability, The agent requested to Reset the Watch using iPhone Watch app. This was hoped to return the Watch to original factory settings. The remote reset was completed, which unpaired the Watch from my iPhone.

But now, the Watch is signaling nearby iPhones it is available to Pair. However, it cannot pair since it cannot display anything not even Apple logo, nothing.

I want to turn it off, or force a power off, but How? Every instruction I find has some step referring to touch controls appearing on the watch face/screen. That can’t work with a dead display

Apple Watch Series 6: Apple Watch Series 6 40mm: Won't power on

Hello all! Looking at an Apple Watch for a friend... It won't power on at all no matter what.

Watch has been sitting in a box for last ~6mo because owner complained about super short battery life. I opened the face and the battery measures 2.1vdc and no output on the bmc. Oddly, I can find the ground rail on the bmc but it isn't outputting any power at the watch connector either when on the bench supply. I also tried to feed 3.5vdc directly to the watch battery contacts on the mainboard ribbon, but similarly nothing happened. No current draw was registered on my supply in either case.

In the end, I'm searching here trying to figure out if that is normal and/or if I need to put it on a charge puck to kickstart it first. I'm not sure if I should just consider the thing completely dead or if I should spend the $$ on a new battery/bmc.

Thanks! -Peter.
