ASUS N56JN: Laptop not switching on.

I shut my laptop one night and didn't open it for two days. When I did open it up, I pressed the power button and nothing happened. So far I have left the battery out for 24 hours, plugged in the laptop, then the battery, and pressed power. I have held the power switch in all increments from 3 seconds until 50 seconds. I have single, double, triple pressed the button and help while either plugging in or replacing the battery.

I have checked the voltage at the wall. I am getting 19.3v from the transformer to the laptop. Voltage to the battery is 2.5v. Laptop gets 19.3v at the motherboard.

I have not been able to find information about proximity sensors/magnetic Reed switches but if there are, I can check them.

With all that said, am I looking at a bad power switch or possibly some other hardware issue? Just to be clear, the laptop does absolutely nothing when the button is pushed down. No lights, sound, nor anything that would indicate the laptop is booting.

ASUS N56VZ: LCD or GPU problem

Hello,

can you please help me identify problem i have? Here is the link to video showing the problem

I had it before and i disassembled laptop, changed thermal paste and it was magically gone. But after some time it returned back. I tried to disassemble again but i brooked lcd cable. So i ordered a new hoping that the cable was the problem from the start. I replaced it and the problem is still there, you can see it on video.

HDMI and VGA output works, also in BIOS i see clear image, maybe just some noticeable flickering, maybe this is normal. Also in video you can see ASUS inscription is ok, only loading animation is distorted. Don't know why after ASUS logo loading screen, lcd goes wild.

Thank you for your advices! Don't have much trust in local repair workshops, they will say to change LCD panel or motherboard or something like that. I may do it, but i need to be shure that it will solve the problem.

Asus N Series: Windows 10 does not recognizes SATA BD-ROM / DVD Rewriter CT21N

I have exchanged the original DVD reader "Super Multi DVD Rewriter Model: GT70N" by a "BD-ROM / DVD Rewriter Model: CT21N".

I was expecting that Windows 10 recognizes the new Bluray reader. Both, new and old one are form Hitachi-LG Data Storage.

I have tried this already:

Driver updates from Windows Update → no updates needed

ODD Auto Firmware Update from Hitachi-LG (https://hitachi-lg.com/en/support/firmwa...) → The optical disc drive already has last firmware

I confirmed in the BIOS if the SATA configuration was ok, I can only change the SATA Mode from AHCI to IDE, so I let it on AHCI

is the laptop too old to use the Bluray drive, althought is SATA?

Any suggestion?

Asus N76VZ: Laptop works with power connector but not on battery. Battery is fine.

Over the past years I have taken my Asus N76VB laptop apart a few times to replace broken components. Currently my laptop is no longer running on battery and assuming it was because of an old battery, I replaced it. This however did not solve the problem. It works fine on net power.

I’ve disassembled the laptop to see if there were scorch marks or other traces suggesting there is a problem from the battery connector to the print board. Nothing to see there. The nine pin connector that goes in the battery looks fine.

ASUS N56VZ: ASUS N56V Can't find wake on lan in bios.

I have an ASUS N56V and I can't find wake on lan in bios. I have adjusted the settings on the network card for wake on lan and magic packet but that alone doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know if there is a wake on lan setting in the bios on an ASUS N56V?

Thanks.
