Hasbro furby 2012: 2012 Furby doesn't move, only reacts to feeding, falls asleep fast.

I got this furby second-hand. When I gave it batteries, it talked and its eyes lit up, but the sound was a bit weird. it was really loud and kinda scratchy.

It wasn't moving at all and when I tried to factory reset it (turn upside down, pull tail, push down tongue), it didn't do anything. When I interact with it, it doesn't react except when I push its tongue down. Eating and singing is the only reaction I can get out of it. It reacts to sound too, but it only sings. It goes to sleep about a minute after waking it up. Doesn't move when asleep eighter.

About half an hour in, it suddenly changed its personality and it's evil now. I also cannot get the furby boom app as I don't have the right phone or tablet for it.

I think it may have been damaged in shipping, as the seller said it was in perfect shape. they also wrote that it reacts to touch.

Hasbro furby 2012: Furby doesn't move/goes to sleep pretty soon after power on.

Hi,

A friend of mine gave me this Furby Boom. She said that Furby was damaged by dropping on the floor by a 3-year-old boy which was coming to live for a couple of days. I disassembled Furby Boom, and I found out, that the DC motor DOES indeed spin, but pretty rarely. You have to push that refresh button, to get it move, but it will move for a couple of seconds in asleep mode, and it will not move anymore when it wakes up.

Waiting for questions.

Hasbro furby 2012: I damaged my 2012 Furby’s software, not hardware. How do I fix that?

So, I messed up. I know that the 2012 Furby responses to high pitch sound. I can actually hear it, it does hurt my ears a little bit when my Furby or the app does this. I thought it would be OK to go overboard with playing high pitch sounds. Because of this, I accidentally re-programmed my Furby to sing when it is pet. In fairness, it could’ve been a lot worse. I heard afterwards that some people accidentally re-programmed their Furby to go to sleep right when they wake up.

i’m planning to do a factory reset soon. Other than that, do you have any other suggestions on fixing the Furby’s software?

(note: this is a 2012 Furby, not Furby boom.)

Hasbro furby 2012: Furby Boom That Had Alot Of Problems!

So last week I bought a Furby Boom of eBay that was advertised as fully working from a English seller. Unfortunately when it arrived it spoke in a foreign language but most importantly didn’t move its eyes, mouth, ears and body most of the time. I’ve already looked on ifixit and some people were saying that its the motor but i’m not sure because sometimes it’ll slightly move its body parts. If you anyone has any help to tell me it’ll be really appreciated. Thank You in advance!

Hasbro furby 2012: Can my furby be saved?

i have a pink furby boom that was bought in 2013-2014 and it has been sleeping in the closet for at least 5 years. today, i decided to turn it on, but its acting really weird - when its waking up, it does a weird tic tic tic sound, and when it finishes yawning the tic stops. when you turn it on for the first time, it acts normally, it just doesnt move - but it still recognizes if you touch it or if you feed it, but it goes back to sleep like 30 seconds after. when you try to turn it on again, it doesnt react to anything, it just talks until it dies like 12 seconds later. ive tried changing the batteries, resetting it, shaking it a lot (lol) but it still doesnt turn back on :( is it really dead? can i still save it?

Tiger Furby 1998: 1998 Furby Motor / Gears Seizing (?) after jump, anybody know a fix?

Hey! I recently purchased a NIB 1998 Snow Leopard Furby (WT code), which did not work out of the box. I anticipated a relatively simple jumpstart (the typical methods of whacking the battery compartment or skinning it & spinning the black horizontal gear with a screwdriver, if the first thing didn't work). While spinning the gear did eventually wake it up, it seems like something's causing either the gears or the motor to get stuck at random, particularly when it's flipped upside down. I dabbed a very small amount of 3-in-1 all-temp silicone lubricant (which shouldn't damage the plastic) on the teeth of the gears (not the shafts, since one of the very few sources I could find said not to do this) with a cotton swab, and that didn't seem to have an effect on the seizing (though I'm not sure if I used enough). I noticed when I was initially spinning the gear, it would catch and become hard to spin for a moment, then return to normal once slightly adjusted. Could the issue be that one of the gears is defective, is the motor the problem, or could it be something like a corroded wire / some other kind of disconnect? I know these guys are prone to motor issues, especially after being dormant for as long as this one, but to me it sounds like that's working fine (everything else functions as intended when it's not frozen). I took care not to deform or otherwise damage the gear, so I don't think that could have caused it. I couldn't find this issue talked about anywhere, and I'm not very familiar with Furbys or small hardware as a whole, so I figured I'd give iFixit a shot. Any advice is appreciated! :]

Here's a video with an example of the sound it makes when it gets stuck:

I don't let it do this for longer than about 20 seconds at a time, for fear of it overheating; nothing stops it except for removing the batteries.
