Garmin GPSmap 60CSx: Garmin 60CSx GPS - Wont turn on: LTC3456 no PWRON voltage? Next steps?

Hi I am pretty new to electronics repair and I am trying to fix my Garmin 60CSx handheld GPS. It was working fine powered up on a desk then it randomly died and did not turn back on. I have tried to check the power circuit but I have been stuck on where and what to check next?

An issue I noticed from my inspection of the Main power chip, an LTC3456, is that the PWRON pin and the RESET pin are not going high? According to the datasheet I believe the PWRON pin is meant to stay HIGH to keep the Chip on after the power button is released. When the button is held pressed down, everything seems to function normally around that area. All inductor voltages seem fine and stable. No capacitors appear to be shorted. But I get no signs of life on the device.

I am unsure where to move to next, would anyone have any suggestions on where to test next?

I think the bottom left section of the board photo is for communication so I have not tested there thoroughly.
I could not get a reading on the 'crystals'? in the CPU area with my oscilloscope.
The CPU's gold pins on the topside of the chip had corroded and some are missing.
There was a general spread of blue corrosion on the board when it worked fine, which I cleaned with IPA %100.
The 2 wire jumpers are to supply power from a bench power supply.

I have an oscilloscope, multimeter, soldering iron and a hot air station.

Garmin Drive 61 LM: 12v on the USB port - Broken, Wont turn on? What to check/replace?

Hi there,

I accidentally put 12v on the 5v usb power lines of my Car GPS, pretty sure its this model. But now the devices does not power on. I have taken it apart and am trying to locate the issue if it is visible, but I would like some help finding where to begin?

The first components after the power supply I cannot identify, I think it is a QFN 6 pin labelled 'JHE', then a SOT-23-3 labelled 'WEG9I'. I have listed the voltages below, but nothing seems out of the ordinary from what I can tell.

The power button reads 3.13v on one side and GND on the other.

Hi, My battery case suffered some damage over the age, Do you sell or know where to find the back pannel assembly or just the battery terminals so i can change them?

Garmin nuvi 2557LMT: Why does my device not turn on unless it's plugged in

It’s actually a Garmin nuvi 2995 but that isn’t listed.

It will only turn on when plugged into the car, my PC or a USB charger, then it works OK.

I’ve left it plugged into a USB charger for over an hour, but it still won’t turn on unless it’s plugged in.

Can anyone suggest a fix ?

Garmin Nuvi 65LM: Won't stay on Map View, changes to turn by turn text

Hello, I have a Garmin Nuvi 65 LM. Recently I noticed that when I am going to an address after about a couple of minutes the screen switches from map view to turn by turrn directions. I have tried rebooting, updating maps and software and have looked through all of the settings. Is there any chance of fixing this or is the GPS toast?

Garmin Nuvi 680: How do I reconnect my ribbon cable to its connector?

While changing the battery on my Garmin Nuvi 680, the most internal cable disconnected from its connector and I don't know if the connector lifts vertically, slides out or is soldered to the motherboard. Beyond that, I don't know how to reattach the cable.

Garmin Edge 530: Device keeps going to sleep

I've had my Garmin 530 for 2 years though I haven't ridden as much as usual. Recently when I start the timer at the beginning of a ride, within about 20 seconds I get the message "going to sleep in 3, 2, 1" and it goes to sleep. It's still recording data but I need to be able to keep my screen on so I can see average speed, etc. (I lead rides for a bike club) I have tried to trouble shoot this but can't seem to find an answer. I wondered if I went back to default settings? Any ideas?

Hi, i have an issue with Garmin Edge 830; the problem is that the device cant connect to the phone and the official statemenet from Garmin was that the bluetooth sensor is not working. Is there a way to repair it? i guess it is soldered on the motherboard, meaning i should change the whole motherboard?⏎

Garmin is silly. My ZUMO XT GPS battery went bad. They say I have to send it back. F' that. I want to fix it on my own...or with your help. Battery# 361-00077-00 is what Batteries Plus said I should buy, however, the connector is part of the problem. Anyone have experience in this world?

Garmin Nuvi 200: nuvi 200 stopped locating satellites.

Worked fine, then: searching for satellites forever. Everything else is working. Updated software, chipset, downloaded new maps, reset it dozen times, put it outside away from buildings for a day and it is still somewhere in Kansas.

Any help?
