Ge Profile refregerator: Is this surging noise normal?

My refrigerator (https://www.geappliances.com/appliance/G...) makes a surging noise (https://www.dropbox.com/s/l7p237f492g6hz...) that I think is either the compressor or a fan. The noise is present only when the doors are closed — if I open either of them it stops. If I open the freezer drawer, the noise can still be heard. Shortly after I close the door, the noise goes into even higher pitch and stays there for relatively longer — I suspect this is related to either circulating air within the fridge cabinet, or evacuating the air (not sure if this model does that).

The noise is fairly audible across the room and into my living room — I’m no good at estimating volume levels, but I’d say it’s somewhere between a whisper & a regular indoor conversation in volume.

The noise is not always present —it will go several hours making the noise as heard in the recording, then be quiet for a few hours, then back.

Does this indicate something is wrong with my fridge? Should I schedule a repair call with GE?

Ge Profile refregerator: Both keep going up, but the freezer never gets back down

I have the exact problem. GE Profile - started a month ago - fridge side supposed to be at 37 and Freezer 0. Both keep going up, but the freezer never gets back down below 6 and just rises from there. I blow dried the back coils, no block of ice there. Side panels are normal, sounds are normal. High end fridge quickly becoming useless. Did you solve this Andrew?

Ge Profile refregerator: Why do my GE profile refrigerator inverters die every 5 years

The temp in my freezer and refrigerator went and stayed at 50. most links said the control panel. it was friday evening and couldn’t get the thee part by at least monday. in desperation, I called a serviceman who came saturday morning. he looked at the unit , felt around and diagnosed the inverter was bad. he replaced it and the machine works. I didn’t need the control panel and the money I saved for the panel went to the service charge, but at least, I didn’t sacrifice the time and food waiting for the panel. My concern and question is that the GE Profile was purchased in “09 and needed the inverter replaced in ‘15 and now in ‘20. My third inverter in 11 years. the first 2 lasted about 5 years each. What’s with the inverters? why do they go like that?

Ge Profile refregerator: Freezer 20º-Refrigerator 60º (a recurring problem)

Since June 2018, our GE fridge has done this over and over: freezer at 20º refrigerator is at 60º. (Checked with external thermometer). It just starts working on its own--days later--usually after tossing out a lot of food.

GE tech arrived when it had already started working again, "educated" us to power down for 10 minutes, restart. Tried this X4. It's now not working.

Tech is due tomorrow. What should he/she be looking for? Thermistors and motherboards don't "heal" themselves!

Ge Profile refregerator: mi refrigerador congela, pero luego hace escarcha y deja de congelar

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am experiencing a serious recurring issue with my GE Profile refrigerator, and I am looking for clear technical guidance.

Initially, the refrigerator was not freezing properly, and it was diagnosed that the evaporator fan was faulty. The fan was replaced, and after that repair the unit started freezing very well.

However, after several days of normal operation, excessive frost builds up in the freezer area (where ice is produced) and also on the interior back wall of the refrigerator compartment. When this happens, the refrigerator stops cooling, presumably because airflow is blocked by ice buildup behind the evaporator.

If I manually defrost the unit, it works correctly again for about 3–4 weeks, but then the exact same problem occurs again.

Based on this behavior, I strongly suspect a failure in the automatic defrost system (defrost heater, defrost thermostat/bimetal, temperature sensor/thermistor, or control board). Since the evaporator fan is new and the issue is cyclical, it does not appear to be an airflow or cooling-capacity problem.

I would greatly appreciate a proper technical diagnosis so I can guide the repair process correctly, as previous technicians have not been able to identify the root cause.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Kind regards,

Model PZS22MYKBHFS

The control panel keeps changing the fridge temperature, increasing it at random times from 37 to 44. At first it didn't happen a lot so wasn't too much of an issue but now it's trying to change it multiple times a minute so the beeping noise is driving me crazy especially at night since I can't just turn off the fridge.

Once it sets it to 44 degrees, it tries to go beyond that so the fridge does 3 beeping noise as an error sound that it can't go any higher. To prevent my fridge from going beyond 37 degrees to keep my food safe, I have to lock the controls. But with that it still beeps cus it's trying to increase the temp, but at least the temp doesn't change with it being locked.

So it got worse now, I need to use the ice sometimes so I have to unlock the control panel and when I do, none of the buttons work when I press on the control panel. I have to wait some random time for it to work again so now I'm basically just keeping it on lock forever because I can't stop it from changing the temperature.
