An acquaintance dropped her phone, after which half of the screen worked for an instant, but then went dead. She would like to have the photos restored that were on the phone (internal memory!), but I think it would be a fun challenge to see if the phone can be repaired

After connecting to the charging port, the charging light flashes.

Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show anything, the screen really seems completely dead.

Turning on/off has no effect.

Phone is not recognized by laptop when connected

The phone still looks completely intact, there is no crack or dent anywhere. Only the glass back was a bit loose, so I already removed it. No visible damage on the inside either, after removing battery and motherboard.

Any advice on next steps?

I have checked the connection which is secure and hope I haven't damaged the flex cable as I was super careful! Is there anything else I can do?

Need your expert here. My GPS suddenly doesnt seem to be working. I have tested using Hi Care app and it says that the GPS module is working. I have a hunch that there connection (antennas) might be loose. Can you guys point out where can i zoom into so that i can repair it easily? I think there is no proper contact between the antennas and the GPS module.

I think that now about 36 hours later I have figured out that it’s the video card that is being weird. It’s been working to and from since that post. Most of the time it’s black and unresponsive though. When it works it’s usually just for a few seconds and it’s blinking green in some places on the screen. Sometimes it works perfectly though for a few seconds. No screen issues at all. But then after a few seconds, it stops responding to touch and automatically turns off due to “inactivity”. And by that time I cannot click the power button to get it to start again. (But it’s on in the background, vibrating and making sounds etc.)

So my final question is: Is there any way to rescue dead video cards in phones just like you can do with dead PC and Laptop grapics cards (heating them) without dissasembling the phone?

When connected to a Windows PC, it is detected as "file gadget cd Linux drive" and shows no files. I have tried a soft reset (Power + Volume Down), but it doesn't seem to boot into the OS.

I've inspected the display connector on the motherboard and it looks clean. Are there specific backlight filters, capacitors, or display ICs on the motherboard that are known to fail on this model after a screen-damaging event? Any guidance on which components to test for continuity or voltage would be greatly appreciated.

Following my change of screen and rear window, I noticed the following problems:

Poor 4G, GPS and Wifi reception

Very low bluetooth range

I performed all the possible resets with no results.

What do you think ? Hardware problem? Antenna?
