DeLonghi ESAM Family: Fuse shuts off when I press the power button of my expresso machine

Hi everyone. I got a problem with my Delonghi micalite Expresso Machine. When I press the power button to turn it on the fuse shuts down and if I try again the same thing happens.

I've done this continuity checkup which I found in another post:

"This is usually caused by the heating element rupturing and shorting to the boiler/casing. You can test for this by removing the top/back of the machine (6 small phillips-head screws) and checking for continuity across the heating element contacts (the two 90 degree prongs sticking out of the top of the boiler). If there's no continuity then the boiler needs to be rebuilt with a new heating element and boiler gasket."

The result was .049, which is good I guess. I attached two pictures for you to check if I've tested the right ends.

Anyone know what's the next step to found the problem?

Thank you!

Air Fryer: WHALL air fryer shows "OPEN" error even when basket is closed and latched

My WHALL air fryer (basket-style) is showing an "OPEN" error on the display even when the basket is closed carefully.

The basket feels loose and wobbly when pushed in. I have already tried:

1. Cleaning all debris from the basket and the interior cavity.

2. Checking the physical interlock switch; it still clicks, but the error persists.

3. Adding a shim/tape to the basket tab to ensure it reaches the switch.

4. Unplugging the unit for 30 minutes to reset the electronics.

Despite these steps, the "OPEN" message remains on the display. Is this a known failure of the internal microswitch or the control board? Are there specific mounting screws inside that tend to come loose on WHALL models?

Kenwood Chef: How to open gear box for Kenwood Chef XL KVL40?

Hi,

My Kenwood Chef XL is leaking oil from the gearbox.

According to this answer (Oil leak top of machine), the grease in the gear box might have dissolved to oil, and as the gear box seems to be unsealed, that oil is leaking. If that's the diagnose, then the way to fix it would be, to either replace the gear box (which sounds appealingly easy), or to open that gearbox, clean it, and put grease in again.

Unfortunately, the technically easier way of purchasing a new gearbox seems to not be simple; they seem to be hard to get, and also not cheap. So, what remains, is the pathway to open it up, clean, re-grease, and (omg) re-assemble in a way that it works.

Ignoring my fear of having to re-assemble those potentially millions of tiny cogwheels that might await me under the hood, I firstly wonder now, how to open the gearbox: I can see 6 phillips screws, but two of them are hidden under a big white plastic cogwheel. The gap between the cogwheel and the screw head is only about 5mm, so not much chance to get a screwdriver in between. I have carefully tried to pull it up, but it sits pretty tight, and I have little desire to break it.

Does anyone have a hint?

Wine Refrigerators: Magic Chef MCWC44DZ bottom zone not cooling

Hi. I have a Magic Chef dual zone wine fridge that stopped cooling. I replaced the relay switch and overload protector and it started back working properly. After about 6 months I noticed the bottom zone (which is larger and has more product) wasn’t cooling like normal. I unplugged it then plugged back in after a few hours and it seemed to be fine for a week or so. I did this cycle of unplugging and it working for a week a few times before eventually both zones stopped cooling. I had an extra relay switch from the previous repair, so I went ahead and replaced it. The old one had the “death rattle” when I shook it, so I do believe it was bad. Immediately both zones started to cool, however the bottom zone is still lagging behind the top zone and hasn’t reached the set temperature. The fan is working, coils are clean and the compressor is running (although it is very hot to the touch - not sure if it should be). What else should I check?

Panasonic Microwave: model NN-SN966S Lost all control of the keypad exept Reset

First, out of the blue, the display screen showed the Power Level counting down repeatedly (P 10, P 9...) while at the same time the speaker was sending out a continuous beep, beep, beep.

When I unplugged the device for a couple minutes, then plugged the power cable back into the socket, the display came up flashing and showed 88:88. I pressed every button on the keypad and only the Reset button worked clearing the display and showed : and again none of the keys on the keypad worked.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking maybe the keypad failed or possibly the microprocessor. Is this even fixable?

Breville BOV800XL toaster oven: What is error E05?

I tested almost everything in this oven, but I never had a manual or documentation for the BOV800XL /A. The thermal fuse was continuous, the transistors, triacs, variable resistors, resistors, capacitors, etc. seemed fine. I did not check the transformer or relays. Here is a link to a version of the manual that vaguely describes the errors on page 54. My continuity test showed that the old oven sensor reads at about 125 kΩ at room temperature. Other sources say it should be in the range of several thousand ohms. Any suggestions/sources for E05 error code?

Keurig K55: Why is my Keurig Classic constantly turning off while brewing?

I put the Keurig brand K cup in, pull down the top, and press the brew button. It works for a split second then the machine turns off and I waste a K Cup. The K Cup just leaks into my cup and I have to remove it and try again because if I try and use the same K Cup it doesn’t taste right! It happens with numerous Keurig branded K Cups including Hot Chocolate, Cafe Caramel, and Cafe Vanilla. It’s been happening at least 3-4 times a week.

This is my third machine I’ve received from Keurig support and it’s still happening. I’ve done all the needle cleaning, reseting, descaling, and many other fixes. The unit is not even 3 months old.

I’m just at a loss of what to do because I don’t see many people having the same problem. I’m also sick and tired of wasting perfectly good K Cups! Anybody have ideas how to permanently fix this?

EDIT & SOLUTION: I've been able to resolve the issue using a work around. This is not a fix and I don't know why Keurig hasn't fixed it after years of this happening.

When using a milk based K Cup, press it into the bottom by hand so the K Cup is punctured. Pull it up and rotate 90º and close the lid. This gives the K Cup two holes and much less pressure. It has worked perfectly since I've been doing this.
