Nexus 4: Nexus 4 losing signal

Hello,

Lately my nexus 4 has been randomly losing signal, i can't seem to get 3g connecton in some places where i used to. The Wi Fi also appears to be weaker.

Besides that, the power button is also now harder to press and i takes quite a lot of tries to get it locked.

I have tried restarting it, turning on/off both the wifi and the data connection and also i tried reinstalling the latest version of Android Lollipop. The phone has always been running on stock android.

Thank you!

LG G3: Parts Source: Lens on IR Emitter of LG G3

Does anyone know of a source for a replacement for the little (tiny, miniscule even) lens that covers the IR LED emitter on the top of the G3? I was swapping mid-frames and as I was removing the lens my tweezers got hung up, and when they released, the lens sprung away (never to be seen again).

Everything still works, but the open hole is one more vector that moisture can enter the phone body.

Am I looking at the potentially having to harvest it off of a parts phone?

LG Optimus G: Should I replace only the digitizer or the whole LCD?

Dear Community,

unfortunately, my LG E975 dropped out of my pocket while entering my car and landed on the threshold exactly in that moment, when I shut the door at full tilt smashing the phone. Of course the glass shattered completely and now the touchscreen is not working. I can still use the hardware keys and the LCD works quite fine, but I just can’t interact anymore with the screen. And if I tap with a bit more pressure on the screen, the LCD shows signs of pressure, too.

To get a better understanding for me in general: There is the LCD, which has no touch functionality and only shows the image. On top of the LCD sits the glass with the digitizer build in. The digitizer registers the fingers on the glass and sends signals over the digitizer flex cable to the processor, which then changes the image on the LCD. Is this correct?

Although my phone is quite old, it runs better than ever before (now with Android 5.1), so I actually don’t want to buy a new phone. I’ve never repaired a phone before, but I like doing things by myself and there are some guides online. Anyways, I have nothing to lose and get the chance to gain experience for other phones in the future.

Now there are two options for me on ebay:

Buying only the glass with the digitizer flex cable (ca. 15€) or buying the glass with a full new LCD (>60€)?

Because the LCD is still working, could I actually just go for the cheap glass to regain the touchscreen functionality?

But does the glass offer always contains a digitizer? I don’t want to get just a useless glass cover for the LCD from a cheap Asian reseller..

How difficult and risky will it be to separate the glass and the LCD?

And could it be possible, that the LCD got still damaged when it got smashed by the door? How can I check this? In this case I will of course replace the whole display..

Many questions, I hope you can help me at least with some! I’m also planning to create a guide for iFixit in this occasion, if the replacement will be successful.

Thanks a lot in advance!

LG G2: Trying to fix my LG G2 Screen

Hello, I have an LG G2 VS980 (The Verizon Model). I was sitting down and my phone slipped out of my pocket and fell maybe 6 inches and cracked. This crack stretches across the screen near the middle. My phone is responsive when i touch other areas of the screen but not on the part where it is cracked.

I recently took my phone in to a local repair shop because i had purchased the parts but wanted a professional to fix it. I purchased these parts http://www.ebay.com/itm/390820196566?ssP.... The man told me that they could not replace it because the parts to fix an LG G2 come in one piece not 2. This made no sense to me because other people said they replaced their phone fine.

I am just really confused and don't know what to do anymore. I don't know if i need to replace just the Digitizer or the LCD and Digitizer. Thank you for your time.

The next day the microphone didn´t work any more and there was some discolored parts on the display. I let it dry in a bag of rice for 24 hours. The display went back to normal. Only the microphone doesn´t work ever since. If i do voice recording it only pics up static and tapping on it.

LG V20: Battery not charging, but phone gets very hot instead.

Hi. I’m trying to figure out the cause of the issue with my V20. I will describe it and I’m hoping to learn what I need to replace to get it working again. First off, I tried this with multiple batteries, and multiple chargers, so it’s not that. I also performed a full factory reset, and ran it in safe mode, so it’s probably not related to software. So, here’s what’s happening: it’s heating up very hot, even when turned off and not plugged into a charger. When I do plug a charger in, the battery percentage does not increase, but instead the phone gets extremely hot, so much so that it’s painful to push the power button.

I’m hoping someone in iFixit has encountered this and knows what’s wrong with it.

Thanks in advance,
