MacBook Pro 16" 2021: Removed command key, now it's flat, no spring, doesn't work

I removed the command key on my 2021 MBP because it was a little sticky and when I popped it back on, it goes all the way down - It's lower than the other keys. It doesn't spring up, and doesn't click anymore.

Is there a simple fix for this that I can do myself? I tried removing the key again and replacing it, but maybe I broke the bouncy mechanism when I pulled it off.

Thanks for your help!

MacBook Pro 16" 2021: Remove display - use as desktop?

Has anyone removed the screen successfully and used as a desktop (2021 m1 max MBP 16")? I have a couple external displays and think this would be the best use of the machine. Is it as simple as removing the screen/disconnecting the cables?

1.5 years later my $4k macbook display cracked and went dead on its own. I believe the cause was a design flaw but thats here nor there! Apple's policy is any screen damage is accidental and is a $1k repair. I don't feel great dumping that money into a machine that could spontaneously crack and has me generally weary to begin with (strange hardware scratching, kernal panics, etc.

Thanks!
Greg

MacBook Pro 16" 2021: Keyboard backlight not working, even when enabled/in a dark place.

Hi. I purchased a refurbished A2485 MacBook (not from Apple though), M1 Pro, 16 inch, and everything seems to work except for the backlight on the keyboard. I'm new to MacOS, but from what my Mac friends have told me, the backlight brightness slider in control center/settings should have enabled it. Does anyone know if perhaps a simple ribbon cable could've come loose to cause this, or if I'm looking at board-level issues? I'm still within a year warranty from the seller, but I'd love to avoid the headache of returning it if there's something I could fix myself. I don't currently own the correct screwdriver set, but I wouldn't mind buying it if this is a common issue anyone's aware of.

To be clear, the backlight doesn't come on at any point. I've tried booting into safe mode and restarting several times but I've never seen it come on once. Ambient light sensor also seems to be working, because putting my thumb over the notch dims the display.

MacBook Pro 16" 2021: My 16” MacBook Pro 2021 M1 Max turns off the screen after 8 seconds

At first it was intermittent black screens. The backlight and keyboard always stays on, and the screen always returns functional after opening and closing the lid. I also confirmed with HDMI output to another screen that the laptop itself does not go to sleep or standby. It will simply stop showing anything on screen. Sometimes when in a dark room, I can see some white washed out elements on the screen moving, especially my mouse. Any ideas on how to isolate this are appreciated. I do have access to specialised measuring equipment.

What can this be? When they tested it in the Apple Store they could not find any errors with the diagnostics. I am leaning towards a hardware problem. Does anyone know of such a system that cuts the video signal after 8 seconds?

I am thinking it could be a failing component on the logic board for power delivery or something similar. I honestly cannot pay the ridiculous fee Apple came up to fix this. They are also not entirely sure that a new screen fixes this.

I am a former PC repair technician and I am about willing to try anything (complex) to make it work again. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Hi everyone,

I found MacBook Pro 16” M1 Max (32gb, 1tb) for 450 USD on marketplace ( in my country). The seller said it is unknown condition. He thought the problem was battery. So he took it to unauthorized service and they mess it up even more. And now it won’t even turn on.
