Kenmore Microwave: Is model number Canadian or a fraud?

I bought a Kenmore microwave oven from a second-hand store. They were about to close and I did not have time to Google it. So I bought it, knowing that I can return it if it does not work.

The model number does not show up online. It is nothing like a Kenmore model number. I called Kenmore and they verified that it is not a valid U.S. model number. They said that it could possibly be a Canadian model number. However, the Canadian division shut down recently and supposedly nobody in that huge company would know the characteristics of a Canadian model number.

The model number is KMCMB809BK09. It says it was manufactured January 2023 in China.

I am pretty sure that it is a fake unit but am curious about this phenomenon and would be grateful for any insights about it. I tried searching online for information about fake microwaves but nothing relevant came up. Is it really a fake? Would you use it? It looks real and works. How common are fake microwaves or other appliances for that matter?

Microwave: momentary stuttering before it starts to go to work

My concern is probably off-base from that of the OP, but we just replaced our unit which just suddenly failed after about, I want to say, 4- 5 years.

One day when I pushed the 30-sec. heat button, there was a loud sound that resembled an alarm clock going off, and boom, that was it. No more microwave. We switched wall plugs, waited 10 min, tried different settings, all to no avail.

Here's our CURRENT MICROWAVE ISSUE: After replacing it with a 1000 watt, really nice unit, (don't know if you can say brand names on here or not), but now when we press the 30-sec heat button, there's this momentary stuttering before it starts to go to work. It works like a dream otherwise, but 3 days later, it still does that stutter at the first press of the button. Question: IS THIS NORMAL, and we should just get used to it - or is it due to a faulty part, design flaw, or an early sign of a soon-to-be malfunctioning chip inside somewhere?

Being seniors, we'd rather not go through the process of carrying this big heavy thing back to the car, and to the store, to replace it all over again if we don't really have to.

Any info appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Kenmore Microwave: Mirowave hums when door is closed, fries switch when open

My microwave was tripping the breaker. I determined that the interlock switch wasn't being pressed properly. I added a small strip of duct tape to the door hook, and it started working. Then, a month or so later, it started tripping again. I traced it to the top door switch, so I replace it. The microwave would hum when the door open, then when I shut the door it trips the breaker again and fried the top door switch again. I tried removing the piece of tape and replace the newly fried switch, and it did the same thing. Any thoughts on what the issue could be? Thanks.

Update (04/15/23)

It is Kenmore Elite Model # 790.80373310. I also had the title backwards. It hummed when the door was closed and fried the switch when you opened the door.

GE Microwave Oven: Pop noise when first starting microwave.

GE Spacemaker 2.0 JVM2070BH02.

I was just heating a coffee cup of water to make tea. I always use 2 minutes and know that a few seconds more, it'll boil.

This time after 2 min .. water was cold. Tried again & the water was just warm. Add another 30 sec, got hot but no boil.

Ran it again later, 2.5 min .. almost boil.

It's set a power level 10 but seems like it lost some power (as if it was at 7 or 8).

It needs 25% more time to boil water.

New magnetron in 2018 when it had a loud hum & zero heat. The one-time pop this time is different.. is my magnetron starting to fail ? What else would make it act-up like this ?

Any insight would be appreciated.

GE Microwave Oven: GE microwave makes rattling noise model PEB7227

My GE Profile Model PEB7227 microwave makes a lot of rattling noise when running. I removed the glass turntable and it still makes the noise. I tried shooting a few drops of silicone oil into the area where the plastic thing-a-mabob fits tht drives the turntable and it still makes a horrible rattling noise. So, at this point I belive the drive motor is defective. The unit is only a little over a year old but is out of warranty.

Any suggestions on how to replace the motor or where to get the repair manual?

Kenmore Microwave: Microwave turned on, made loud humming/stuttering noise, then shut off

The microwave was dead, no power, no display. I replaced the fuse, and that managed to get the oven to turn on and operate the control panel. I tested heating half a cup of water, and the microwave turned on for 3s, made a loud humming, almost stuttering noise, then completely shut off again.

I assume the fuse is blown again, since it's completely dead again. But am I also on the right path that either the diode or the magnetron need replacing? Or could there be another component that is capable of blowing the fuse with the same symptoms?

Kenmore Microwave: Light and turntable turn on after closing door

After removing the hot food and closing the door on my Kenmore microwave the light turns on and the turntable revolves without setting any of the controls. Some times it does this upon opening the door. I have to open and close the door several times to get it to stop. It does not appear to be heating when doing this. The cancel button will not stop it. This is an intermittent problem and does this about10-20% of the time. Otherwise it heats and runs normally. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
