Nintendo GameCube: Disc not being read

My gamecube is having issues playing one specific game. It will play far enough along to get to the memory screen to create a new memory file but stops spinning. It always stops there and the game itself is in pretty good condition with barely any scratches. Not even my wii gets past that point.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? (Note, my gamecube plays other games perfectly fine, it's just that one game in particular I'm having trouble with.

Nintendo GameCube: My controller cuts out sometimes, (only port one).

Occasionally, my controller will cut out on me. It used to simply cut in and then out, as if it had been unplugged and replugged quickly, sticking my analogues and shoulders in currently held positions. Now (still rarely) my controller will simply 'lock' and not allow me to do anything, unplugging and replugging has solved this thus far. It's probably an issue with the metal conductors in the individual port (or not, I don't know). Either way, I need some more permanent help.

Nintendo GameCube: Disk is Not Spinning and there is No Picture Displayed

Hello,

Recently, my GameCube isn’t reading any disk as it is not spinning. I don’t hear any spinning when starting up, but everything else seems to be fine inside (the orange light, the fan, etc.). Oddly enough, there is also no video or sound when the GameCube is powered on. I don’t see any signs of an error screen or the GameCube menu when you don’t have a disk inserted. I took it to a repair shop only for them to tell me “There is nothing wrong with the circuit going to it or the spinner itself we cannot discern an issue.“

I’m not too sure what’s going on? Could it be the laser? I haven’t disassembled the console myself.

Nintendo GameCube: Mario Sunshine for the gamecube glitches at the same point every time.

Hi everyone.

I bought the Super Mario Sunshine game for the Nintendo Gamcube, I get it on, it starts off well, but after the game is just about to begin the game stops and says "Game disc could not be read"

It's at the same point every time I've tried to play, it's after the courtroom scene, mario is sentenced to clean the town, he stands in isle delfino and is being warned by 2 'police officers' the game fades to black and then comes up with the 'disc cannot be read' screen each and every time I try to play.

I read a tip on the internet to clean it with toothpaste -I've tried that but the exact same thing still happens.

The disc have a little blemish on it, it's like a tiny scuff mark. Any advice at all on how to fix it would be amazing.

Thank you :-)

Nintendo GameCube: Disc board fails to spin disc

I've got a gamecube with an interesting problem. I have another cube that is known working and I've done part by part swaps (motherboard, disc motor, hinge switch) to narrow down my issue. Something on my disc drive board is wrong and it will not spin the disc. Changing the motor to my known working cube proves the motor isn't the problem. I even swapped the good motor to see if that will work, which it didn't. I have a cheap multimeter and the caps are taking a charge and discharging as normal. A reflow of the hinge connector has not fixed my issue. I'm at my wits end and about to call it a lost cause.

Nintendo GameCube: GameCube disk not spinning /sticky “open” button

The consoles “turns on” and I checked that at the store, from my knowledge the disk “doesn’t spin” the tray and lens was very dirty.
Nintendo GameCube: No power to Optical Drive

Hi there,

The disc drive on my DOL-001 GameCube has stopped working and all of the “usual” fixes don’t seem to be working.

I don’t get any disc spin and the laser doesn’t turn on when the lid switch is pressed.

So far I have tried:

Adjusting the potentiometer

Check the power board fuse (no issue)

Switch in a known good optical drive

The known good optical drive has the same issue so it seems like the issue is on the main board or power board. Is there anything else I can look at to try and diagnose?

I’ve fitted a picoboot to the main board which works perfectly and the disc drive was working before and after I fitted this. It has just suddenly died completely.

Any help would be much appreciated!
