Ok. Plugging the cord into the wall brings up the red stand-by light. Pressing the power button you can hear the fan start up for a moment, then about 5 seconds later it shuts down. Red stand-by light disappears. Must unplug, then plug cord back into outlet for red light to reappear. I have bought a Power Supply Unit but that did not fix it. I do believe it was a different model then the one that was in it if that matters. Is it the power cord? The Power Supply? The Power Ribbon? Please help so desperate :(

PlayStation 3 Slim: ps3 slim turns on then right back off

The ps3 slim was giving to me by my sons friend. His father through it though the window and the cover cracked and now it will not start. I know but I - We should be able to fix it with the right parts or knowledge.

When I plug it in there are no lights but when I press the power button the red power standby light comes on. I press it again and the green light comes on, out lights on power and disk buttons come on, and the fan runs for a sec then it shuts down with all lights out.

I tried holding the power button in to check the video output and try to reset but it shuts down after a sec. It only beeps once when I first press the power button.

I have a problem with my PS3, and I am getting worried.

The problem is that when I press the PS Button to turn it on, the LED goes green, and in a few seconds it beeps rapidly, then turns red, and then blinks red. I don't know what is wrong. I might just call Sony, but I want to know what is wrong with it first.

I recently had my HDMI port stop working on my PS3 Slim. After trying different cables and a different TV, I've come to the conclusion that it has become separated from the board. I still haven't opened up my system yet, but does anyone have any tips as to how/if I can solder this back on?

PlayStation 3 Slim: Why does it turn itself off erratically?

My PS3 slim randomly and very frequently shuts itself off. It won't even show it is in standby.(History about the device is that it has had 2 nasty falls from the entertainment center due to accidents. There is no external damage visible.)

At times we can get it to come on and stay on for a length of time that is random as well. Other times we can push the button 100 times and it will not come on and stay on. We have opened it and cleaned it and watched what happened when we turned it on. The fan turns on and doesn't make any strange noises or anything, but within a few seconds it shuts itself off completely again. We are getting very discouraged. We have been to several blogs and youtube videos without any real solutions. If it is the power source how do we check it out to be sure that is what it is? We don't want to try and replace functional parts and potentially cause more issues. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey there, I have a PS3 Slim that isn't reading disks. It doesn't display any sort of error, but when I put a disk in nothing happens. Is there any way to find out if I need to replace a control board, the blu-ray drive, or just a cable?

My ps3 will power on but a split second later go to yellow then 3 beeps with red blinking light. Is this the ylod issue that ps3 phat had? I have the tools needed to fix yold if that is it but i want to confirm thats the issue. The system is about 3 to 4 years old

I'm receiving the error 80010017 in my almost new PS3 slim. Everything appears Ok but when I try to play any game I allways receive the error message.

recently my ps3 slim 120gb froze during gameplay and i shut the system off. Afterwards i turned it back on and it wasnt reading the disc so i took the disc out and put it back it. immediatly i noticed the disc light didnt come on and then after one or two seconds after inserting the disc it makes a noise like it is trying to eject the disc. i then eject the disc and it comes out fine. please help i am at a loss here.

PlayStation 3 Slim: Ps3 slim won't read discs

Hi, my PlayStation 3 slim 120gb will not read discs I put into it. I was watching a blu-ray film, the movie froze towards the end, I turned off the ps3 and off at the wall, and left it a few hours. When I turned it back on, I ejected the blu-ray movie, tried putting a game in and it did not read. When a disc is entered, the console makes 4 ticking noises instantly after the disc being inserted, then makes an ejecting noise but not ejecting the disc (almost as if it is stuck) and then it ticks another 4 times, and there is no disc spinning noise neither the game coming up on the screen. Very very rarely, I will enter a DVD, and it will fluke and read the disc and work fine, but I recall the DVD's that have been read happen to be at least 1/2 millimeters thicker in height than a ps3 disc. Maybe this could mean that the reader is not blown but there is something jammed stopping the discs from being read?

I have a real problem with my ps3 slim

the problem is : my ps3 work in 220v and I in the U.S and U.S only have 110v so my ps3 wont work only if I use a converter . the converter overheat every hour and turn off automatically and after on hour later it work again . I tried to buy another converter but all of them the same (will turn off) I play ps3 more than 6 hour a day and these converter want me get killed by not working ...

can you please tell me if I can buy a 110v power supply and change my 220v power supply and where I can get it plz .. and if I can't can you tell me about a converter that work more than 5 hours or any good converter beside the one I have ?
