RAM: All new RAM sticks randomly cause freezing! Why?

I own an <ins>HP Obelisk Desktop 875-0034</ins> gaming desktop.

I first tried installing a 2nd 16 GB RAM stick (Kingston) and, for a few days, every was fine. Then, my desktop began to freeze at random intervals and I had to forcefully restart the desktop to get it working. Once I removed the Kingston RAM stick, everything worked like normal.

I tried swapping the RAM sticks between the RAM slots and the issue still occurred; but when I insert the RAM stick that came with the desktop, no issues occurred so I don't think the RAM slots are bad.

For my 2nd attempt, I completely replaced the RAM that came with the desktop with <ins>2 (Corsair) 16GB RAM sticks (totaling 32 GB)</ins>, and the same issue occurred. Worked for a few days, then random freezing occurred.

The motherboard is an Edoras so <ins>BIOS doesn't show Advanced Options or XPM</ins>.

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows, HP Support Assistant, and the built-in Diagnostic software have all indicated that there are "No Problems" which is obviously wrong. And HP Support Assistant says the BIOS is up-to-date.

There's no pending updates under Settings, Device Manager says the drivers are current, and neither Corsair nor Kingston offer drivers updates on their websites (not since I last checked).

And apparently, there are no manuals/spec documents ANYWHERE on the internet and HP hasn't been helpful at all.

The PC is 64-bit and both RAMs are compatible.

It is up to date, and uses Windows 11.

Both RAMs are 16384 MB

Both RAMs are 2666 MHz

Both RAMs are DDR4

My only remaining option is to try a single 32GB RAM stick, but I'd rather not risk losing another $70+ if I'm gonna end up with the same issue.

RAM: Computer no longer works with new RAM

Last week I added more RAM to my comp, along with a new motherboard and processor. The new RAM is 8 GB G.Skill Ripjaws. After replacing the parts, my computer wouldn’t send a signal to my moniter - I checked all wiring and removed / dusted off several parts of the comp before the moniter began to work again randomly with the original setup. I forgot about it and the comp ran fine for a week with 16 GB RAM.

This week, the moniter wouln’t receive a signal anymore. I fooled around quite a bit and found that the comp only sent a signal when the new G.Skill RAM was removed. Why would my computer reject the new RAM after working fine for a week?

Specs:

CPU: Intel i5 9400

GPU: GTX 1060 3GB

Motherboard: ASUS B365M-A

RAM: Old RAM, Corsair Vengence 8 GB; Added RAM, G.Skill Ripjaws 8 GB

RAM: HP Notebook PC RAM upgrade

Hello,

I have HP 15-r011dx Notebook PC the question is regarding the RAM upgrade. I just gathered information that can support SODIMM DDR3. but I want to know how many slots my notebook have and What MHz it can support and how many GB’s it can support. I have mailed hp support no significant answers, read multiple forums(people there have a similar problem), tried CPU Z(it’s showing dual channel) but in task manager>performance>meomry it shows slots used 1of1. and this notebook uses 2213 57.16 motherboard. I’m confused.

RAM: RAM Upgrade Elitebook 8460P - PC3-10600s or PC3-12800s?

I have an Elitebook 8460p with Intel Core i5-2540m. It currently has 2x 4GB PC3-10600s. I wonder if I would face a problem if I upgrade it to 2x8GB Samsung PC3-12800s. According to the specs sheet,

Standard:

DDR3 PC3-10600 SDRAM (1333 MHz)

Two SODIMM slots supporting dual-channel memory

2GB, 4GB, and 8GB SODIMMs

Maximum:

Ungradable to 16GB with 8GB SODIMMs in slots 1 and 2

Dual-channel:

Maximized dual-channel performance requires SODIMMs of the same size and speed in both memory slots.

I am also planning to upgrade the CPU to Intel Core i7-2860qm which supports PC3-12800s in the future, so that's why I am considering PC3-12800s as an option. Please help.

RAM: Ram Installing Issue after bumping ram.

I am having issues installing ram into my HP Compaq 6200 Pro after a ram seemly failed. As to how this came to be, I was applying thermal paste to my processor, made a mess on the processor that I had to clean up; and as I was cleaning I bump into one of the two rams. I knew right when I did that that could create problems. Sure enough I could not boot giving me 5 beeps indicating a memory issue. I took out the bad ram and the computer will boot on the one ram. The problem now is this is only 4gb ram and I need at least 8gb. I tried reinstalling the bad ram with the same issue. Took the bad ram out to make sure the good ram was still working. It does. After these processes of adding the bad ram and then removing it or similar. I will get 3 beeps with a screen telling me that time and memory is different. Then when I press f1 to boot, it will go off. On the third time it will boot up normally every time. I still go to that screen, but it will boot every time. Since there are 4 slots with 2 different channels, I have moved the good one into a slot beside it or the new channel. It still works. I have done the same with the bad ram on the other side and it will not work; repeating the process to getting it to work after taking the bad one out. I bought a new identical ram from online. I have tried it out in the new channel. I face the same issue like the bad ram. I am now questioning whether it the slots. This don’t make sense can bumping the ram slightly in the other slot or channel mess up the other slot or channel. I could take the good ram and install it into the supposedly bad slots and see if it the slot; however, I am scared that this may ruin the only good ram that I know works. If this did work it would tell me that the bad and new ram are both bad. I am questioning whether or not I am missing something like I am not resetting the bios properly. I am taking out the cmos and this is all being done while unplug; however, I have come to realized that there might be a jumper to this board that I might need to reset. When getting some information on the computer to post this issue, I discover when plugged up and turn off, there is a green light shining in between the slots. I will provided information and picture if I can. Thanks to anyone that can help.

Some Spec Information:

Computer/Motherboard Hp Compaq 6200 Pro - type it into a search engine and you see the motherboard

Ram: Elpida 4 gb 1Rx8 PC3l- 12800U-11-12 A1 - all 3 of them.

RAM: Resoldered a resistor to DDR5 RAM, 0.29Ohm Vs 0.24Ohm, will I be okay?

Hello,

I recently re-soldered a resistor from a DDR3 stick to DDR5 as when I was removing the heatsinks one came off.

I took one from random DDR3 RAM and I tested with multi meter that the original one is 0.29 Ohm and the one I replaced is 0.24Ohm. (when testing with multimeter at 20K OHMs)

The sticks work fine when I put them in a PC. They're 8000Mhz ones, of course I don't have a CPU yet that can test whether they'll run at those speeds, but in BIOS XMP shows up fine.

Trace from the resistor leads directly into the RGB light diode on the RAM.

Please see included screenshot.

Will it affect the ram at all or I shouldn't be concerned?

Its the top empty space for resistor that was missing. FYI.
