GE Monogram Refrigerator ZFSB25DT: Fridge isn't cooling and has ice build-up. How do I fix it?

Hi,

We have a GE Monogram Refrigerator model ZFSB25DTG SS. Not sure how old it is, it came with the house and we moved in a few weeks ago.

The fridge initially wasn't getting below 45 degrees (set to 37) and the freezer was at about 5 (set to 0). After a few days I did some poking around and discovered a lot of ice completely clogging what I think are the evaporator coils at the bottom of the fridge (behind the fresh food drawers). There was also a small amount of ice built up on the back of the freezer, but I didn't dismantle anything in the freezer.

After unplugging the fridge and letting it defrost overnight the temperature was perfect (freezer and fridge) for nearly two weeks, but then jumped back up again, and of course the ice had returned. Defrosted it again (with a hair dryer this time) and it OK for now, but I obviously need a more permanent fix.

From what I've read it sounds like it's probably a problem with the defrost system, but I can't find any specific information for this model of fridge, so I'm not exactly sure how to proceed. Can anyone give me some direction?

Thanks,

Rob Wilson.

Edit:

Top freezer, bottom fridge (can't remove styrofoam due to ice, so can only see bottom two coils).

Fridge seems to be a lot more iced up than freezer if you can see all the white behind the two coils.

Samsung Refrigerator - RF26J7500: Water dispenses but the ice maker does not make ice.

My Samsung side by side dispenses water but it will not make ice. The ice maker functions when you press the reset button but still will not make ice. I figured it just wasn’t getting water so I replaced the solenoid and still nothing. I see alot of replacing the filter but if the filter was clogged wouldn’t I not be getting water dispensed? Water line is not frozen because we had to shut it down to have the thermistor replaced at which the repair guy also said the ice maker was working. I’ll replace the ice maker before I call him back again. Any one have this same issue and know the solution?

LG Refrigerator LFX28978: LG in-door icemaker won't dump ice into the bin

The tray fills up with water and freezes but won’t dump ice into the bin. Model LFX28978ST/02. The unit adds more and more water to the tray that is already filled with ice, so water runs out the door, down the side, and puddles on the floor. When I push the reset button the tray does INDEED turn, so the motor works. If I melt the ice block with a hair dryer and remove it from the tray, the icemaker seems to work in that it fills the tray with the right amount of water, it freezes, and then I can dump the normal cubes into the bin manually, using the reset button. If I don’t dump the ice manually, though, it never gets dumped, more water keeps getting added to the tray, the tray fills up to overflowing with ice, and I get water on the floor again.

Amana Refrigerator: My Amana refrigerator/freezer has stopped cooling!

about six weeks ago I noticed my fridge wasn't cooling like it should so I unplugged it, vacuumed the coils under the doors, and around the fan at the bottom rear. I waited a couple of days and plugged it up. By the next morning it seemed to be working fine and did so for a couple of weeks. Then it stopped cooling completely. I have checked the coils behind the panel in the back of the freezer as well as the fans and the compressor seems to be working ( I think I can hear a light humming noise...but the lines are neither hot or cold) Please help!!

Desperate!!

Frank

Here an update... I was checking the Overload/relay with star capacitor with my multimeter and it seems to be fine. So just for giggles I plugged it up again to see if the compressor was vibratingand it was. So I walk around and check the coils inside the freezer and the are cold?? I Don't understand what is happening!!

Kenmore Refrigerator: Why is my freezer not freezing anymore?

Hello,

I have a Kenmore Elite side-by-side refrigerator that is 3 years old. I noticed recently that freezer was no longer freezing food. The condenser coils were a little dirty so I unplugged the refrigerator and cleaned them. When I plugged it back in everything worked. The freezer began making ice and freezing food again. Three hours later I noticed the ice in the ice maker was melting. The evaporator fan in the freezer is running. The condenser fan is running. The compressor is humming and does not feel hot when touched. I have adjusted the freezer and refrigerator temperatures to -1 and 37. I removed the back panel on the freezer to check evaporator coils and there is no frost or ice present at all. Evaporator coils are wet. The evaporator fan blows cool air in the freezer when it is plugged in but not freezing cold. What could be the problem? The refrigerator model number is 795.5183.3410

Samsung - 29.0 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator with Thru-the-Door Ice and Water - Stainless-Steel

- Note that water stopped coming out all of a sudden. My wife used it a few minutes ago to get some water... but now no more water comes out of the dispenser.

- When I remove the filter, water is getting dispensed at good speed, but when I put back the filter (the same that I was using the last 30 days), water stops.

- I bought a different filter and see the same result. Not even sputtering (the thing that usually happens the first few minutes when a new filter gets inserted)... it's like blank.. no water at all.

- Can hear the humming sound when the dispenser gets clicked.

- No leakage.

- All the other lights on the control panel are glowing.

- Emptied ice bucket and see that new ice is being made.

Whirlpool refrigerator model GZ25FSRXYY2

Our ice maker is no longer dumping the ice it makes, I think the ice maker mold thermostat may need to be replaced. This thermostat is N. O ( normally open ) and when cold from the ice in the mold it will close, which tells the motor to dump the ice. how can this be tested ? To check it with an ohm meter will do no good because it is N. O. and it has to be ice cold to close. If I remove it from the ice maker and cover it with ice will that make it cold enough to close so it can be tested with an ohm meter ?

Refrigerator: My fridge-freezer is not cooling

My fridge freezer temperatures are too high, the appliance is running hard but it's not staying cool. I pulled it out to check if the back grill was dirty, but it's clean.

What I did notice is that the unit at the bottom (big black thing, Danfoss NLX15KK - I think it's the heat exchange unit) is very hot almost too hot to touch, however the pipe leading off it that goes into the coil/grill at the back of the fridge quickly cools off before the first loop, so the back of the fridge is not distributing the heat as it should be.

This would explain why the fridge and freezer aren't staying cool, but why is the heat not being sent around the coil? Is there supposed to be a pump? Could this be broken?

Kenmore Refrigerator: My compressor went out in Kenmore Elite.

2015 Kenmore Elite Model 795.72483.410. I had a repair person out and they said the compressor needs to be replaced and that is the cause of my refrigerator and freezer not cooling. They said $600 part and $200 labor. We didn’t have him fix it and then read that my compressor has a 10 year warranty. I called Sears and they said it’s under warranty but they have to send a diagnostic tech out to diagnose for $99. They said the $99 will go toward labor if I have the repair done. I am wondering what kind of labor cost I am looking at. Can they not just take at face value what my original repair person said about it being the compressor and then come out to do the repair? I read there is another class action law suit brewing for LG compressors inside Kenmore refrigerators but it’s still in the works.
