Samsung Galaxy Note5: How do I get these flipping things apart?

Hey,

I just started doing phone repair and the biggest issue I'm having is getting past all the adhesive. I keep reading about ' heat and patience', but it seems that no matter which method I use (hair dryer, heat gun, iopener) or how much time I heat something, it just doesn't come apart easily. I shatter backs and peel off LCD assemblies in layers.

It's very frustrating seeing stuff here and on youtube come apart fast, perfect, and in one piece.

Any 'tricks' you can share with a newb would be greatly appreciated. Been working for 2 hours trying to get the back off of a Galaxy Note 5 and I'm about to chuck it at a wall :)

Samsung Galaxy Note5: Phone gets hot and draining battery fast when LTE is on

My note 5 is starting to get hot and draining battery fast about 2 days ago. That is when I am on LTE network. This never happened before as Note 5 is one of the coolest phone I ever owned even using constant gaming. Now when I am on LTE, even if my screen is off, the phone gets very warm after 3-5 minutes and battery is training as much as 1-3% per minute. When I set my network mode to 3G or 2G only, this doesn't happen. Once I turn it back to LTE auto, and it is on LTE, it sucks my battery and the phone's temperature is up that it is extremely uncomfortable to hold.

I also tried cooling it in from of an AC, yeah it stops the heating outside but still drains the battery fast. WIFI works fine too.

I think my LTE radio is broken or something. I can still use internet properly even at LTE though so it is still functioning well. What might be the cause of my problem?

Samsung Galaxy Note5: Phone doesn't turn on after screen replacement

Hi,

So today I replaced an LCD on a note 5 for a customers phone. It's not my first time doing it I've done a few now. However, this time the phone had been repaired before and the LCD was damaged. The phone was still on and indicated that all it needed was a new screen. The last repairer used a very strong adhesive (stronger than the original stuff). I had alot of trouble removing the back cover, it actually cracked. So I did the whole teardown but when I got to the battery He used the same glue on it and it was impossible to take off without puncturing so I left it on and removed the screen while the battery was still on the midframe.

Now I Just need to finish the repair but when I tested the device before putting all the screws in and closing it up I noticed the phone won't turn on. I plugged in charge and it comes up with the lightning bolt sign but it doesn't advance or indicate any charging. The phone is stuck and it won't boot up.

Any suggestions?

My only idea is that the battery may have gotten damaged when I initially tried to remove it but I've done a lot worse and battery still starts the phone up. But I'm still a noobie.

Please help I'm kind of desperate I would hate to have to pay for a new note 5 I'm already on minimum wage as it is lol

Regards

Samsung Galaxy Note5: Why can't I use my phone while it's charging?

I lost my note 5 and it ended up sitting outside in the rain. Initially it would not charge or run at all so I turned on my old s4 and let my note 5 dry out for 2 weeks with the Sim card removed for the last week.

My phone now works,

Camera is clear

All speakers work perfect

* Makes/Receives calls

* Speakerphone and Music play clear

Screen has no damage

All buttons work

Holds a charge

Doesn't get hot or overheat

Charges (only while powered off)

Works flawlessly when it is on and NOT plugged in.

The only problem is that if it's ON and you plug the charger in it will start rebooting, and as soon as it reboots and goes to turn on it will reboot again, so I have to charge my phone while it is powered off, which is a problem when it's my alarm for work. When it is on and not plugged in it doesn't freeze, reboot, or have any other working/running issues. I have also already tried doing a factory reset to see if it would help and it didn't. Could the battery be damaged, or possibly something else?

Samsung Galaxy Note5: Charge symbol does display, but won't charge or attempt to boot

I stopped using my Galaxy Note 5 about a year ago when it simply stopped charging. I couldn’t be bothered investigating at the time, but I’ve decided to try to repair it.

Symptoms:

1) Charging symbol appears when plugged in but the charging symbol doesn’t fill and the device will not turn on or even seem to attempt to boot while in this state.

2) Holding key combinations for various resets doesn’t turn on the device, but the charging symbol disappears for a few seconds while some of those combinations are held. The symbol reappears a few seconds after letting the buttons go

3) I’ve tried with and without the stylus in the device (not sure if that would change anything)

I’ve ordered a new battery and will have a go at replacing that, but I’ve read many users have had similar issues related to a firmware update so I’m not sure if I’ll have success.

I will update this when I replace the battery.
