Sony Bravia 42" LCD TV: Sony Bravia TV turns off repeatedly.

My Sony Bravia TV (model number KDL-46W905A) turns off randomly every few minutes. At first it seemed that it only happened when it was directly plugged into the wall, but not when it was plugged into an extension cord, but now it happens no matter what. It always turns back on after a couple of seconds, and is otherwise working perfectly, but something seems to be tripping and turning it off, with no apparent pattern. I am new to fixing stuff but really don’t want to have to throw away an otherwise perfectly good television that my landlord was going to throw out! Thanks to anyone who can offer any advice!

Sony Bravia 40" LCD TV: Where can I find a replacement LCD panel for my TV?

Hello, about a year ago our 40" Sony Bravia LDC Television went one-on-one with a Wii remote... and lost. The panel was cracked, and the TV was not covered under a warranty. We have long since replaced it with another similar 40" Bravia which has faired pretty well over the past year. The other TV has been residing in the basement in it's box. I decided to leave it there until the price of LCD panels had gone down. I'm now thinking of buying a new panel (if the price is reasonable) and replacing it. The only problem is that I have no idea as to where you can buy an LCD panel for one of these TVs. eBay returned no results and neither did Amazon. Does anyone know where I can buy an LCD panel for one of these TVs?

Kdl-55ex720: Sony LCD TV image issue

Hi all. I have a Sony KDL-55EX720. While watching tv last night the screen suddenly had like a screenshot of the show over the top. What we were watching was still visible over 100% of the screen, it just had an overlay, kind of like burn-in. The overlay image wasn’t full color, it was almost white. I switched the input to another hdmi channel that didn’t have anything connected so that it was all black. The overlay was still there but it gradually started turning black. Maybe took 5min for the screen to go completely black. Once the whole screen changed to black, I switched back to the original hdmi channel (with picture) and it was back to normal. But after less than a minute, you could see the brighter vertical lines creeping back until it would cover almost 3/4 off the screen from right to left. You could still see the full show, just with a patch of brightness over the top. It didn’t like like a screenshot anymore, just bright white. And I could repeat the process of going to a black screen and it channeling black etc. Any thoughts what it might be? T-CON?

Thanks

I followed this troubleshooting diagram for the 4x blinking code, but I am getting different results with voltage readings when the TV is booting up, or TV on but blinking 4 times, or off in standby mode.

In other words I get the 3.3V or the 0V at both testing points at different power states of the TV.

So my question is, when am I supposed to be reading these voltages?

While it is booting up, after is has booted and is blinking the code, or plugged in but off in standby mode?

Sony Television: Back Panel Removal on a Sony XBR65X800h

This is a unique set in regards to the back panel. It is a full rear panel, top to bottom. Minimal screws on the bottom and none on the top similar to Samsung’s screwless back panel. How does this come off? Does it pry off like the Samsung TV’s? To be clear this is not the half back panel that the slim Sony’s have. This is a full back panel. Unique to this size of tv. The image above is the actual set.

I removed 5 screws. 4 where the wall mount would screw into the set and one by the power plug.

Looks like the bottom is held in with plastic clips which I have released. The sides and top all seem to fit into the front frame all the way around so no way of hitting the bottom to have it slide up. Maybe the front frame has to come off first? The rear panel is connected to the front panel frame.
