iPad 4 Wi-Fi: iPad shows battery and plug icon when already plugged.

I have a iPad 4 to work on, the digitizer has already been replaced. The problem is, the iPad shows the red empty battery with the lightning cable at the bottom. Even when it is plugged, it still ask to plug the device to charge it. I tried to go into recovery mode on iTunes and it won't work at all, iTunes won't recognize the iPad. Anyone has an idea what could the problem be, I would like to try everything possible before needing to remove the digitizer.

Here is a picture:

I get this even when it is plugged which is weird because it should only show the battery and not the cable. Also, the screen flash every 5 sec before going back to the battery/lightning cable icon.

iPad Original: iPad won't enter DRU nor Recovery Mode

I have tried multiple ways and directions on how to get this iPad, it’s model a1458, into either recovery or DFU mode, neither are working.

When I try holding both power off and home button and never release them, it just keeps turning off, then apple logo, then off, then apple logo (keeps looping).

When I try holding power and home to turn off, then when black screen release power but keep holding home, it just goes back to the ipad disabled screen.

When I try holding home and plugging into USB it boots up to ipad disabled screen and itunes never finds it.

I’ve tried all of the above with USB connected, then again without USB.

I’ve also tried #2 with USB first unplugged, then when black screen plug into USB.

So I’ve tried a lot of combinations, I’ve also done this to other ipads before without issue, this one is belligerent.

Any ideas to get into recovery or DFU? I’m trying to factory reset without original icloud account since we don’t have it. Attached is what is on the screen now, it won’t connect to itunes anymore either.

iPad Wi-Fi: Digitizer(Touch screen), Not responding after Tear down.

Hello,

I am experienced in almost all Mac hardware, but i am stumped w/ this issue. Any Help would be great!(iPad 64gb Wifi)

I tore down my iPad to replace a peeling digitizer. Upon reassembly, The iPad was working O.K., but the digitizer was locking up and responding very poorly. I decided it must need replaced and ordered a new digitizer through ebay. Now after replacing the digitizer, the touch screen will not respond...

The home button works fine, as well as power/volume/lock.The screen also still inverts. Plus it charges and is recognized in iTunes. I have tried resetting it Via Home+power. Any help would be Great!

UPDATE:

It has been nearly a year now, So I figured it can't hurt anything to try a new digitizer. My Ipad still powers on, resets, inverts, connects to itunes, chargers etc. etc. etc. I have thought about this thoroughly and there is no other logical answer besides the digitizer I received is defective.

When the iphone 4 was new alot of the replacement screens were garbage, and I think it ws the same with the iPads. I originally believed I had damaged the logic board when the retaining clips on the logic board broke off, but after speaking to an electrical engineer, He doesn't believe this makes since. He fixed his broken retaining clips using a thin strip of mylar tape under the tab. I ordered a roll of mylar tape and the entire display assembly which includes the display, midboard, digitzer, clips, etc and a roll of mylar tape for 60$, I will update as soon as I receive the shipment.

Update 2:

Replaced the digitizer again, and no change. As a conclusion, this board is fried, and my iPad is a useless paperweight... I would not recommend buying a logic board for one of these, it's just to much money compared to an ipad 2 16gb. It is really unfortunate, Everything works software and hardware wise, but the screen just doesn't respond to touch. You may be able to salvage some of your loses selling it for parts on ebay.

iPad 7: Ghost touching WITHOUT the digitizer connected!

Today I replaced the digitizer on an iPad 7 due to it being smashed. Everything went smoothly and before I stuck the screen down I went to verify everything worked. When turned on, the screen would go erratic and it locked itself out due to ghost touching. I opened it back up to check everything and can’t seem to find any errors. I’ve checked the connectors under a microscope and they’re all good. I thought I’d try power it up with the digitizer and home button disconnected and to my disbelief.. it was still ghost touching. Can anyone suggest what I be wrong? Someone has mentioned it looks like the lcd may be faulty but I don’t see how that’s possible when it’s detecting touch with the digitizer disconnected. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

iPad 3: Serious Problems with Error 4013

Hi,

My iPad3 Wifi is locked in the „Restore Mode“ (iTunes Symbol + cable on Display). First I got “unknown error 9”, after the release of IOS8 “unknown error 4013”. I tried everything on different computers (Win/OSX), USB Ports, DFU/Restore Mode, different cables, and so on – the full program with no success.

After endless hours of searching I thought I got the solution – the dock connector must be defect. Today I opened the iPad with the Ifixit toolset (works great!) and replaced the dock connector. What shall I say, still “unknown error 4013”. I tried some other things: Cameras (Front, Back, Front + back) off, Speakers off, Battery reset several times with different cables on different USB Ports at my computer “Unknown error 4013”.

Jailbreak Tools doesn’t work cause of the Restore mode.

The iPad lays still open beside me, but I don’t know what more I can do?

Hope someone got something like an flash of inspiration for me…

iPad 7: 4013, Boot loop and it would not flash

Hi! I had an Ipad 7 bought in Nov 2019. It was doing fine until very recently where it just suddenly shut down, no warning, while in normal use. It got stuck in a boot loop; recovery mode and DFU doesn’t help at all since it would not recover/update when plugged into iTunes. Error log from iTunes update says the device disconnected before the update can be done, and 3uT flashing log shows failure at 19% every time. I brought it to an AASP as a last ditch effort and, sure enough, they can’t do the repair.

Things are pointing towards hardware failure and a fancy paperweight, but what are the odds of saving the device?

iPad 2 Wi-Fi EMC 2415: Is it worth it to replace battery on iPad 2?

DISCLAIMER: I haven't found any simmilar article about this question on this forum.

is it worth it to replace a battery on iPad 2? There are problems with iPhone's batteries that result in forced performance reduction, but i haven't found any confirmation about iPad(s) which should had same batteries.

Can you confirm it?

If that's a case will it solve new battery from ifixit? Won't it just delay same problem?

-----

I'm android/linux/windows user. This device was a gift from family so i don't have experiences with Apple Products.

it was useble and pretty cool at first, but then it got iOS updates and i notice performace drop from IOS 7~NOW. Could it be a problem with just battery? Or should i downgrade/look for cydia solution/Different OS for it too?

-----

Is it worth it to modify this device somehow? Like solder better chip, modify its frame to hold custom batteries, (custom cooling solution), etc.. ?

I want to use this device for graphic design nor project management using custom software.

-----

iPad Wi-Fi: Ipad Dock connector no longer working

Is it possible to replace the dock connector for the ipad, is this part available?

My 2 month old ipad dock connector is dead! I've tried multiple cables which work on my iphone without success.

Because it's jailbroken I can't take it in under warranty and because the dock is broken I can't restore it... talk about being between a rock and a hard place!

The unit does charge but it's a trickle charge and takes forever, in fact to get it to full charge it has to be on most of the day which defeats the object of having the thing in the first place.

Could simply replacing the dock connector be the answer?

I'm using Cydia's Wi-Fi sync to "talk" to the unit through itunes so it's not a total train smash but very annoying.

This will hopefully be my final addition to this question. I was able to get the device open without any issues as shown by the image below. As @dadibrokeit pointed out, a hard press/decent bump could knock the bracket for the button loose. This did end up being the case with this device. Once I re-adhered the bracket I reassembled the device to where I could turn it on and make sure the home button would work. Sure enough, I was able to use the button normally. I have not tested Touch ID yet, but nothing was damaged during the repair process, so I am willing to bet that it will be fine and will make sure tomorrow morning. Otherwise, the device seems to be working as expected. Thank you all for the support!

iPad 6 Wi-Fi: Won't Charge, Won't turn on, Won't display the battery icon

Hey all, so this is my brother’s iPad that we’ve been having trouble with. As a quick backstory, he dropped it a couple of days ago. Since then whenever we’ve plugged it in, the lightning bolt symbol appears and the battery bar turns green, yet the battery keeps trickling down. We’ve already tried a hard reset and confirmed it was not the cable nor the adaptor itself, and in fiddling with it, it has now run out of battery. At first, the battery showed up as that red ‘low battery’ icon (and plugged in it didn’t have the charger icon, so again, it indicated charging). But now that won’t even show up. It’s just a black screen no matter how many buttons we press or how many hard resets we attempt. As of right now, it’s a brick with zero sign of life. What do you think could be wrong?

Thanks for reading :) x

P.S: I cleaned out the charging port as well with some paper, so that’s all dandy too.
