iMac Pro: Mac Pro 2019 SSDs do not work in the iMac Pro 2017

I have an iMac Pro here with a defective SSD. Apple is selling Mac Pro 2019 SSDs on their website, and they look identical to the ones in the iMac Pro. I also found an eBay seller listing the Mac Pro 2019 SSD as compatible with the iMac Pro. So based on those two very reliable sources, I tried installing a 2TB set in the iMac Pro.

The Mac is completely unresponsive. It can be found in DFU mode, but when I try to restore it using Apple Configurator I get the error:

Gave up waiting for device to transition from RestoreOS state to BootedOS State. [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore – 0xFA5 (4005)]

So this post is just to inform people who might get the same idea.

Edit: it turns out they most likely ARE compatible, and that if you have this error, you simply need to swap the left and right SSD.

iMac Pro: Reattaching iMac Pro Stand - Latch Inside Problem

I have had my iMac Pro on a VESA adapter and would like to put it back on it's original stand.

The problem is that the internal connector that holds the stand has retreated into the iMac Pro and I'm not sure how to get the stand back on.

Does anyone have any tricks to get the internal "connector" back and locked into a position that I can re-attach the stand?

I've had the closes luck using a paperclip (held by pliers) to try and pull on one of the two protruding studs on the corrector while with the other hand release the latch. But I've yet to get the connector out far enough for it to lock into place so that I can reattach the stand.

I fear I'll never be able to get the stand back on. Any help/tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated.

iMac Pro: Is it possible to diagnose a bad power supply in an iMac Pro?

Hey guys. I have a late 2017 iMac Pro that recently just completely stopped working without warning. Worked fine one night, then the next morning it wouldn’t turn on. I tried different power outlets, I purchased a new power cord, and nothing changed. Then I took it apart. There are four points where the power supply makes contact with the logic board and I noticed one of those connections wasn’t touching. I remedied that, cleared out any dust, put everything back together, but still nothing. Can anyone tell me if/how I can test my PSU to see if it’s bad, or what else I might be able to do?

iMac Pro: Can I update CPU, memory and SSD of my iMac Pro?

hi guys, thanks in advance for any suggestions and answers.

I bought an iMac Pro a couple of days ago. the CPU is 10-cores of Xeon W-2150B, the memory is 64GB, the SSD is 2TB. The speaker is much better than my 2019 iMac. I am an OCDer, I want to upgrade it to top specs and keep it. but I want to confirm some details before I start to do it.

Does anyone know if mine supports 18-Core Xeon W-2191B and 256GB memory? and, it looks very hard to get the Apple SSD like 4tb. Where can I buy 2pcs?

just done the upgrade of RAM. looks like everything is fine. have to say it's pretty easier than upgrading my iMac. One small tip, removing the chin strap would make assembly easier. :)
