iPhone 3G: speaker phone speakers not working

This is not an earbud issue. I have never plugged mine in. One day I was using the Speaker option and noticed that the sound was scratchy. The next day the phone did not ring it only vibrated. I have a very quite ringtone plus vibrate for incoming calls. The ring sound comes out of the speakers as well as the voice so right now all I have is the vibrate option. Listening out of the speaker by the ear works great. My ringer and speaker are at maximum volume. I have not gotten the phone wet, but I do live in Houston, Texas which has high humidity. Is there something I can do to fix this. I can take the phone apart, but would like to know what I am to do when it is open.

Thank you,

iPhone 3G: I Broke My Motherboard, Now What do I Do?

My first problem is that my #3 connector did not have the usual lift type connector. My #3 flat cable passed thru the small plastic cover and a tiny piece of tape was installed on the portion that came out the bottom of the cover. I completed a battery replacement and after putting it all back together - nothing worked. I repeated this several times and finally thought maybe the #3 connector was a lift type. It was all black but I tried ever so gently to lift it and it broke like fiber of glass. 60-70% of it broke away. Next, in trying to get it all back together again, I looked down an saw the little brass tab, normally attached to the lowest right side of the main board sitting on the desk. It separated at the soldier joint and just fell off. It didn't seem to be connected to anything. I am guessing it is just a means of better keeping it centered in the frame. I started over one more time and made sure to hook everything (I still could) right. Now it won't power up at all...

Needless to say, I give up... What can I do to get it fixed and/or where can I send it for this type of repair??

Here are the parts in question:

iPhone 3G: Water damage and then some

This may be longer than most Questions.

I went for a vacation to the States for a weekend and I didn't check my pants for my iPhone so they went for a wash in a Coin-Op machine (those machines lock until its done) I tried to contact the Super but to no avail and I needed to leave the next day. Initially I plugged it in and the screen showed gray plus the water. so I let it be for a time. When I returned back home, out of a miracle it worked for a bit but the screen was busted, so I replaced it.

Seems like I'm going forever, eh? Worry not I'm almost there.

One night I'm getting the multicolored display/fade to white and smacked it gently and seemd to work for a bit but kept going so I did a bit of hard resetting and then...

THE PROBLEM:

I turn on the unit and I see the Apple logo for 1 minute but after that it shuts off! Also the battery doesn't hold a charge either. Someone told me in another forum that it could be the Dock connector at fault. Of all the parts in the market that sell iPhone parts, only the Logic Board is the priciest to get. Could the battery be at fault as well? I want to make a wise investment and not buy something I never needed. Please advice.

iPhone 3G: Battery not charging after replacement

Original battery was not holding a charge at all and left me phoneless until I upgraded to an iPhone 4. I ordered an OEM replacement battery from Directfix.com and tore the 3G down and replaced it. I've taken it apart before b/c a rattling screw that came loose somehow was annoying the !@%$ out of me, so I'm accustomed with taking it apart and putting it back together without much hassle.

I was delighted when it powered up and I was able to retrieve most of my contacts off of the phone. It powered on at about 80%. I failed to check the voltage at the leads before I installed it (didn't think it necessary at the time). Now, when plugged into the USB port of my imac, it shows that it is plugged in and "charging" but the battery meter goes nowhere but down.

Did I get a bad battery? Am I losing voltage somewhere else in the phone without my knowledge? Grounding pins are intact on the motherboard. What is the next logical step?

Hi,

I felt down on my iPhone 3G and it switched off. The display has a small spot under the glass, which looks malformed and shows rainbow colors -- at a very close look.

After the boot process, the screen shows weird white and grey lines and flickers.

After connecting it to the MacBook, iTunes asks me to restore it. However, the restore process fails with an unkown error (1604). It tried it serveral times.

Should I order a new lcd and digitizer unit from ifixit, or should I put my iPhone into the bin?
