iPhone 4S: Back camera not working anymore

Hi, I had to replace the power and sensor cable. By doing that I killed the display cable so I had to replace it as well.

After replacing the two things I realized that the rear camera is not working anymore.

If checked the contacts and the gold bracket, but all seems to be in well condition. I also couldn't find a broken camera cable.

Tried hard-reset. All other hardware operations are working except rear camera and led light.

Also tried to restore the whole device.

Any suggestions?

PS: The gold bracket is between case and logicboard? And not above logicboard?

Update

Today I got the new camera and replaced it.

But it doesn't work.

Any other suggestions to do or to check?

// Front camera is working when I'm using facetime.

Update

The U10 component (http://www.moulnisky.com/downloads/Apple...) seems to be a little bit damaged. Do you think that could be the reason?

How to remove the U10 component from the logic board?

iPhone 4S: Black LCD after water damage, rest works

Hi, I'm repairing my gf's iphone 4s which she dropped in the toilet about 5 months ago. Now I decided to try to fix it. I discovered that the phone worked "inside", i can turn on the flashlight by using the touch and knowing where to touch, I can use the mute button (it vibrates correctly) and take screenshots (it says the sound). The only thing that didn't worked was the LCD, there was no picture - completely blank.

Then I thougt, okay, new screen and then its good again so ordered a new screen but when I was replacing the old one i discovered that the LCD connector had some damage to it. Solder points for three of the pins had gone black with some kind of dirt on them and after the new screen was installed, the screen was still black, but with the inside still working as before.

I have read something about water damage and seen that it IS possible to replace a LCD connector. But should I try to put the motherboard in isopropyl alcohol (99%) and see if they will be clean again or should I get it soldered new?

I have tried cleaning the LCD connector with a toothbrush and isopropyl alchohol and hasn't really helped.

The only good thing is that the screen on startup very short shows the Apple logo but disappeas very quickly again. Inside it is still booting up correct.

There may be errors in my spelling, pretty tired today ;)

PS: It is not the battery, one morning I forgot to turn off the phone which resulted in that it had an alarm at 6AM in the morning and I swapped the battery from the waterdamaged to my own and it was completely fine. I also get a voltage reading of about 4,1-4,2 volts when it's disconected

iPhone 4S: Why is my screen is shaky and duplicated?

So, I have an iPhone 4s and the display is back-lit and the phone operates as far as I can tell, including the digitizer. I have done hours of researching on this site and others for my problem. Others seems similar, but their fixes don't work for me, and I have no warranty left from Apple as many with some of these problems do.

Long back story (not sure if relevant to the current problem): iPhone was water damaged, did a lot to try and salvage the phone. Replaced battery and cleaned the motherboard as best I could with 91% alcohol on the display connections. It seemed to work fine except for randomly typing things, and just acting weird. Assumed a screen problem. Replaced screen. Then it functioned, but with a black back-lit screen. I tried different things until I found an old iPhone 4s someone wasn't using. I used it's motherboard in my phone. It worked perfectly.. For about six days. Then it started it's new problem:

So, a couple days ago the display image on my iPhone 4s started getting shaky. Looked up different things people told me on what to do. So, tried a restart. I turned it off and back on. No apple logo... White screen:

Then took a snapshot (pressing home and power buttons simultaneously) of what the iPhone thought it was showing me and it doesn't look quite right either:

(Also with the last motherboard this was the same problem of weird snapshot images, but it just had a black back-lit screen instead of this white weirdness)

The phone still functioned fine as far as I could tell. Called my girlfriend and told her my phone was being weird again, so I wouldn't be getting her text messages. Turned it off via home and power button, since I wasn't sure if the power slider would work. It stayed off for about an hour and a half. Turned it on after class to listen to music on my walk home (since headphone controls work fine, as does voice commands) and it was working as if nothing was wrong.

Then it worked fine, but with a few jumps, flickers, and screen duplicates when I used it for extended periods of time. Didn't want to turn it off for fear of repeated the same issue as before of no image.

I fell asleep playing a game last night to wake up to a triple image on my phone. I put it in standby for a long time, but it didn't clear back up as usual. Then I tried the off and back on thing to just get back to the white screen problem again..

I have tried leaving it off for a while and taking it apart to check connections of the screen.

I have noticed that after a while the white screen fades a lot, then it is just a back-lit black screen.

Please help me get my phone back. I would love some ideas on what causes this problem.

Edit: Faded white screen:

Seems like there are some weird lines in the white that are more noticeable after it fades. I don't understand what could cause this problem with the phone.

Edit: I got it to work, but it is just back to the shaky and duplicated screen. If left alone for a while, it will return to seemingly normal operation. Could it be that a chip on the motherboard is overheating during use, and causing screen distortion or what?

Edit: Thought I would document what the screen looked like before trying to replace it. This is what it looked like after I took it apart and put it back together with it restored to factory settings:

Here is what the screen does now:

Edit: Okay. I just replaced the screen and everything seems to be working perfectly.. Now to put it through a bit of extensive gameplay and video to see how it holds up. Then I will post my results. I really do think it is fixed this time. It shows no hint of a jumpy screen. I will post results sometime later today.

Edit: After playing a game/leaving it on because I fell asleep playing, it is still working just fine. If it reverts, I will update.

iPhone 4S: Do I need to replace bottom battery connector screw?

I completed the iPhone 4s battery replacement with help from the iFixit.com repair guide - thanks! The phone is working. The only issue I had during the replacement was losing the bottom screw on the battery connector. I closed it up with the screw missing because the top screw seemed to hold the battery connector in place, plus, no real option. Is there any danger to a user or the device in leaving this screw unreplaced, if anyone knows? Thanks!

iPhone 4S: No Calls or Messages

Be it sending or receiving, the phone is incapable of anything related to text messages or calls.

Text messages show as Not Delivered. When trying to make a call, the call screen is quickly flashed and the phone returns to the same menu.

Replaced the screen some time ago, but not the source of the problem, as the phone did not stop sending/receiving calls/texts after it. Later on replaced top microphone. Not sure if it was the cause, but it's the last known modification since it was working properly. Worth mentioning is that although the signal indicator seems to work properly when set up through numbers, when shown through bars, will always show none at all or, when turning on, will show 2 or 3 for a short period of time and reverse to showing none at all. Interesting as well is that Mobile data works perfectly fine.

Have tried:

Turning phone off and on.

Resetting phone through settings.

Flashing phone.

Resetting Network Settings

Turning off 3G

Turning off Mobile Data

Setting to Airplane Mode

Removing SIM and cleaning it

SIM on another phone(Works)

Replacing lower antenna.

Replacing Charging dock.

Replacing upper antenna.

Replacing battery

This... this is absurd. This doesn't make any &&^&^$^ sense. What, does the freakin phone just stop working for no reason outta nowhere?

Please, any tips are appreciated, I don't know what else to do. Could try replacing the top piece with the microphone and the buttons, but come on, where the !&&* is the link between the two?

iPhone 4S: Proximity sensor not working after screen change.

I replaced the screen on my white iPhone 4S 16GB. Now the ambient light sensor works but the proximity sensor does not.

However when I take the proximity sensor out of the case housing (removing the retention clip and laying it downwards) it detects my hand or anything close by and works.

The replacement screen has a filter over the sensor bar, and it has a small divider bar in it. I've tried the sharpie trick, placing tape and it doesn't seem to work :(

There's also a foam pad that is already there but it didn't seem to make it work in the first place.

What is going wrong?

In the photo below, the red area is where I placed the tape over. The orange arrow is pointing to where there's a piece of glass in the frame that seems to sit in front of the sensor circled red in the picture above.

iPhone 4S: Dropped in water/working/goes on and off/wont charge

So the other day my iPhone decided to take a dip in the pool. It all happened very fast but I am pretty sure it made it to the bottom (4ish ft) before it was retrieved. While taking it the otter box off the screen started to flicker and then it just shut off... so I thought. I was on the phone with AT&T when my text tone went off. The phone was still on! I knew that it needed to be turned off but I couldnt. So I left it at a friends house in rice so I wouldnt be tempted to touch it. When i got back say 12 hours later ready to go to the apple store, I decided to plug it in a see what happened. It came on instantly. All was well until i noticed it said it was at 100% battery... Then it shut it self off. It immediately came back on at 1%. So I let it charge but it kept going on and off. Now it wont charge properly. Its been plugged up for sayyy 2 hours or so and is only at 15% and still turns on and off on its own. Help!!!

iPhone 4S: up-volume button has lost its "spring" and "click"

the down-volume button on my iphone 4s works fine.

the up-volume button is kind of sunk into the phone, does not spring back out anymore, and does not "click" when you push it. it just seems dead and does not control the volume any more.

i had to turn on "assistive touch" and control volume on the touch-screen now, but would like to get the button working again!

any thoughts on exactly what part (s) i need to get and replace in order to fix this?

thanks!

iPhone 4S: Can I upgrade the camera in my iPhone 4S?

Recently I have been using an iPhone 5C and the camera is superior to my iPhone 4S. But in August I will be refurbishing my 4S and using that.

Can I upgrade the 4S camera to make it as nice as a 5C camera?

Thanks for your help.

iPhone 4S: Water damage - black screen

I somehow knocked over a glass of water during the night, my iPhone was right next to it and ended up lying in the water for sometime (not sure how long). When I realised I checked my phone, it didn't seem that wet (just a little bit on the back) so I didn't worry about it just put it down. When I came to it later it had turned itself off, I could see water droplets in the camera lens so I put it in a box of rice for a couple of days, tried it again and nothing. I thought it was a gonna and for some reason I put it on to charge, the next day siri started talking to me (I hadn't actually touched it so a little surprised!) I have now managed to unlock it, get siri to send messages and read out messages. Everything seems to be fine other than the screen has nothing on it. I have some photos which are not backed up and would really like them. Is there anyway I can get them? (can't get then downloaded to iCloud as I can't access settings on my phone to allow this)
