iPhone 4S: Updated my jailbroken iPhones 4s to 6.1.3, stuck in Recov. loop.

My iPhone 4s was jailbroken, I think at 5.something or 6.0. I wish I remembered. I tried to update it to 6.1.3 via my phone in the settings menu. It restarted and told me to connect to iTunes.

I connected to iTunes to restore and got a 3194 error. I tried tinyumbrella but I cant kick my phone out of recovery mode. I went into DFU mode and used tinyumbrellas "fix recovery" options with no luck, iTunes returned a 21 error. I went back into DFU mode and tried to restore my phone through iTunes again, but now that I'm in DFU mode, I'm getting a 1600 error.

I updated iTunes to 11.0.2 (latest) and tried to restore again. Instead of immediately throwing an error, it's now downloading the iPhone software update and has 75 minutes remaining.

Not sure if this will make a single difference when it actually tries to install it, but in the meantime does anyone have ideas?

If I cant fix it, which is cheaper: Buying a logic board with 16GB and replacing myself, or buying a new 4S?

iPhone 4S: New replacement battery sometimes cannot charge

I replaced a battery to my iphone 4S and for one month it was able to charge daily. I got the battery replaced thinking that maybe the battery was not good. The 2nd battery was initially with 76% charge. I tried to charge the phone but it never charge even after 1 hour. I am using any original Apple charger and 30pin cable. Also tried with another charge and cable but also same situation. Hard reset(POWER+HOME) also did not help. Also did a firmware upgrade from 9.0.2 to 9.1, also doesn't help. There was 2 occasions where I found that the battery have to be totally discharge then it was able only to charge to about 26% and it stop charging.

Anyone able to advise?

Below is the battery check using ibackupbot:

iPhone 4S: Phone keeps crashing after repair job.

Hey guys, I did a bit of a rehaul on my iPhone 4s last weekend. All parts I bought were from iFixit.

I replaced the battery, which I bought brand new.

I replaced the volume buttons, which I bought used.

I replaced the vibrator, which I bought used.

Everything seemed to go off without a hitch. I wore latex gloves so I didn't have to worry about finger oils creating interference, I put all the screws and parts on a white paper towel so I wouldn't lose any, and I watched Youtube videos to accompany the iFixit guides.

Putting it all back together, the only thing that still seems busted is the volume button (I have to replace the entire headphone jack cable), but that's not the issue.

After putting everything back together, my phone has been crashing left and right. It'll freeze when switching apps, it'll crash in the middle of an app, sometimes it'll automatically shut down when I let it idle, when leaving my apartment with the phone in my pocket sometimes it'll shut down, etc.

I have tried a hard reset, restored factory settings, recovered from back up (I backed the device up on my iTunes before I took it apart), and set it up as a new iPhone. Currently my operating system is iOS 7.1.1. I have not made the switch to iOS 9 and I would like to avoid it if I can (though I know with iOS 10 announced I'll have to make the jump eventually if I want to keep using this phone as long as I possibly can. My goal is to make it to 2020, haha).

Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing these crashes and if there's anything I can do to get it back to normal? I've tried restoring factory settings a few times now, though I only restored from my iTunes backup once and set this up as a new iPhone device twice. I do have a backup on the Cloud that I did back in January I can try. Otherwise, I might have to upgrade to iOS 9 and see if it's a firmware issue.

The only other thing that could possibly be behind it is when the replaced volume buttons didn't fix the issue (volume increase won't work) I had jury-rigged it with a small piece of a business card between the button and the sensor. I really doubt that foreign contaminant would be the cause of my crashing, but I also want to be up front with everything I did to the device.

If anyone has any ideas or has encountered similar issues, I'd love to hear what you have to say! Thanks!

iPhone 4S: iPhone 4s Battery Connector replacement

Ok so I left a post about my Iphone not charging or powering up, just heating up. I have replaced ALL components, but i think there might be an issue with the battery connector, which makes sense because it affects the power and its the only component I have not replaced. I just want to know if there is a guide on replacing the battery connector? I just want to know whether I should use heat gun or soldering iron.

I'm very skeptical of using a soldering iron because of how the placement is. The soldering pads are under the battery connector and i do not want to risk burning the motherboard. For removal I would probably use soldering iron, but for placement heat gun and paste.

I would like a veteran, someone who has done this many a time and is very experienced to advise me on this, as i have done many Iphone repairs but never repair of a battery connector. would appreciate any suggestions.

iPhone 4S: Stripped Screws During Battery Replacement

I ordered the iPhone 4S battery replacement kit and proceeded to follow all instructions in the guide, yet when I got to the battery connector plate, I used the included phillips head screwdriver and it ended up just stripping both the 1.7 mm and 1.5 mm screws holding it in place. Now I've tried a bunch of methods such as the rubber band, super glue, even a razor blade and have yet to have any success on removing them. Any suggestions on what I should do next?

iPhone 4S: Broken mic after replacement of all parts (except screen and motherb.)

Hi guys,

Before I found out the broken mic on the Iphone 4s i did some testing with a broken iphone 4.

The iPhone 4 was fallen in the water 4 months ago, so i thought to test the parts on the motherboard of the iphone 4s. I only did test the mic by connecting it on the board of the 4s.

The mic of the 4 wasn't working on the 4s, so i concluded it broken. After that i reassembled the 4s and tried to make a call. That was the moment I found the 4s mic didn't work. So I replaced it with a new one without succes.

My last thought was the noise cancelling mic was broken. So replaced is together the power flex without succes either.

Replaced the power flex, connector cable and jackhead flex and still no working mic.

What could be the problem? Irreversible damage on the motherboard of the 4s from testing the mic of the iphone 4 on it?

Thank you for your help!

iPhone 4S: Multiple Problems with the iPhone 4s

This will probably sound very confusing, and probably never heard of, but i'll try my best to explain.

I came home one night, and my phone didn't automatically connect me to wifi, so I went to my settings and went to connect to wifi, but it was acting a bit slow and would freeze for a second or so. Once I did connect, it only lasted about 30 seconds before I was disconnected. I tried again and it did the same thing, connect for 30 seconds than kicked me off. When I went back to re-connect, it couldnt find any networks to connect to, usually when this happens i turn off the wifi and turn it back on, but this time it never turned back on, and I couldn't do anything besides open up my assistive touch and play with those options, the home and power button didnt do anything in the assistive touch.

I force shut down my phone using the assistive touch power button and the actual home button, and it goes to an apple screen, and stays there until i open the back and uplug the battery and put it back in. Once i do that it still does the same thing over and over, no fix whatsoever nor could I find any solutions online.

Does anyone think they can help me? or is it just time to get a new phone.
