iPhone 6: How can I remove a striped pentalobe screw?

Hi all,

I have recently purchased an iPhone 6, 128gb space grey with a cracked screen. I need to remove the pentalobe screws to replace the screen and get the phone up and running.

Unfortunately the previous owner has completely stripped one of the pentalobe screws and I can not remove it with the correct tools. The screw has no shape left whatsoever (see photo) and will not grip at all.

I have tried different shaped screw drivers, the rubber band method and a stanley knife. I have heard to try super glue but I am scared it will seep into the thread and make it harder to remove. What is the best method to remove the screw?

iPhone 6: Screw size guide or chart?

Does anyone have any information on the screw sizes on the iPhone 6. Particularly the 5 screws that hold the lcd, digitzer, home button and speaker flex metal bracket/plate down. Going back to the iPhone 5 I remember that using the wrong screw size can lead to damaging the motherboard. Sometimes the screws can get muddled up for whatever reason so I'd like to be sure I always use the correct screws when replacing screens etc. Any help on this would be very appreciated. Thanks

iPhone 6: Black screen after lcd replace

First off I want to thank everyone for the help on this site. My problem happened right after I replaced the lcd on an iPhone 6. the screen is dark and I tried different screens even the original, still the same problem. when the phone is connected to power it intermittently vibrates, when connected to computer itunes picks it up but I cant access it because there is a passcode. I read about the longer screws damaging the motherboard and its not it (the shield wasnt on). I tried everything, even removing and re installing the board. same problem. I had a iphone 5s do the same thing and it worked after resetting the battery, this one has me stumped. Would appreciate any input, thanks in advance.

iPhone 6: iPhone 6 won't charge after ifixit battery replacement!

My phone won't power on after finishing the battery replacement. I carefully made sure all connectors were not bend and snapped back into place firmly and evenly including the battery connector. When I press the power or home button I see a battery icon on the screen with a few red bars. If the iPhone is NOT plugged into the charger a lightening cable and lightening bolt icon also appears; when plugged in only the red battery icon shows. I've left it plugged in for about 10 minutes and nothing has changed. Typically when my battery is dead and i plug the iPhone in it starts up within a couple minutes. Sadly I didn't test this before sticking the new battery in place and don't have spare adhesive strips. How do I troubleshoot and fix this problem? Did I get a bad replacement battery or is something else wrong? This is obviously very frustrating as my phone is now out of commission!

iPhone 6: Touch ID fails to setup after disassembling iPhones with iOS 10.0.2

Hello, I was disassembling several iPhones (my included and an iPhone of a friend) both are iPhones 6 with 128GB. I replaced twice the display of the iPhone 6 of my friend, and everytime it worked properly. Same was done with my iPhone. Then today I had to open both iPhones. And after assembling them again, the Apple TouchID sensor (which are original and not swapped) were not functioning anymore. Both iPhones tell me "Failed Unable to Complete Touch ID Setup", I already did all the tricks. Reset, Hard-Reset, iTunes downgrade to iOS 9.3.5 (from both 10.0.2).

After all things didnt work and the Touch ID fails, I have a bad thought, that Apple did something in iOS 10.0.2 which prevents the Touch ID to work after the iPhone was disassembled. Something like in the past with the Error53… I hope someone can prove me wrong and help me out with the issue by providing a trick how to reset the Touch ID and complete the Touch ID Setup.

iPhone 6: :( HELP! How do I fix a small dent on iPhone 6?

Hi IFIXIT,

Bad news! CRUD!!!!!! Yesterday I just dropped my new naked iPhone 6... I left it in my hoodie's left pocket while I was at my job, I ducked and reached down to get an ingredient to make something and IT FREAKIN' SLIPPED and hit the tile floor lightly and it made a small DENT!!!! Ughhh the worst day ever.... I almost LOST IT.. I was just glad it's still fully functional and works.. also, luckily it just a really small fall on the edge side with no screen crack or any malfunctions... BUT I still felt extremely bummed afterwards. So what I am unfortunately left with is a small nasty dent scratch... It's not very noticeable but it sure as heck noticeable to me. Every time I think of my iPhone, bam I think about that darn dent.. HORRIBLE.. It is a constant reminder of how I seriously messed up and should've left it in my pocket that is bigger and gotten a protector case immediately after buying the iPhone 6.... :(

Is there ANY WAY, HOPE, to fix this problem? Sanding? Replacement? Send to a cellphone shop for repairs? Online repairs? Replacements? Anything?? I would do anything to get rid of those dents. Sadly, I have no insurance for the iPhone... so I can't just go back and get a new one or w/e.. Blah, I feel extremely miserable right now; you guys don't understand.. Thing is, during the time I thought if I keep my grip on it very well, be very cautious with it, I will not drop it at all until the protector case comes from mail so I can put it on.... but I made the stupid mistake of putting it in a small hoodie pocket NEW and NAKED...!!! And it dropped on it's own..... THE MADNESS! LESSON LEARNED!!! I WILL NEVER PUT ANYTHING expensive and unprotected IN MY HOODIE POCKET EVER AGAINNNN.. BAHHHH this is driving me so CRAZY and INSANE! Sorry for venting guys, it's just sooooo frustrating and sad... a $750 phone and bam, I dropped it already.... UNBELIEVABLE... *SIGH*

Thank you guys for taking the time to hear me out on this one.. You guys must've had enough of my rage-ranting lol..

Alright... so I want to get to the bottom of this... how do I fix the dent? There's gotta be a way... any advice and help on what to do next would seriously, greatly be appreciated guys... I would do whatever it takes to get it that rounded edge that has a small little dent restored and back to normal-looking again....

iPhone 6: Black screen, backlight problem?

I recently dropped my iphone 6 in the sink briefly. It was water damaged as the LCI shows red. I can still charge it; see it in iTune; and if I shine a flashlight on it, I can see the display, but the screen appears black without light.

Does it mean backlight fuse is burned? If so, I don't think I can do it without some real fine tools and micro scope. How much would it cost for the repair shop to fix it?

iPhone 6: iPhone 6 in boot loop after screen replacement

So i have replaced a Iphone 6 Display (pre-assembled) and everything worked well (tested fron camera, homebutton and stuff).

Suddenly my friend told me, that somehow the device is not working and when he gave it to me (the same day) the iphone was stuck in a boot loop:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDas7WcM...

I tried to disconnect battery and also the reset with home button and power button, but still the same problem. Funny thing is, that I cant put it into DFU (it seems), because the device is restarting too fast. After that I tried to take another Display (from my working device) but the problem is the same.

I did not use the wrong screws (3 smallest bottom, biggest on the right, middle left)!

Please ifixit and community help me out :(
