iPhone 6 Plus: Touch and power button issues

Having some weird problems after replacing the screen on this iPhone. To start the screen did not work at all when I received the phone. During the repair I tore the cable that the home button connects to. I replaced that cable and now after replacing the screen the touch almost never works. I can try to swipe over to the unlock screen but it will only swipe over once or twice every 30 attempts. Also the power button sometimes just doesn't work at all and sometimes it works fine. Currently I'm going over the mother board looking for any damages but so far I have nothing. Anyone have issues like this before or know of a solution? I tried a completely different screen and the same problems are happening.

iPhone 6 Plus: Does an aftermarket screen really cause battery draining?

Had a customer come back today with a 6+ that the screen was replaced on a few months back. He took it into Apple because his battery is draining quickly. They wouldn't cover it because it was an aftermarket screen- they blamed the screen on the battery draining faster than usual. We only use OEM quality and have never been accused before of using 'cheap' screens. Is Apple blowing fluff to make a sale and avoiding acknowledge iOS and other issues with their phones that actually do cause accelerated battery draining.

iPhone 6 Plus: Proper cleaning of the logic board for iPhone 6 Plus

Good Afternoon,

I'm reassembling my iPhone 6 Plus and as I'm about to put in my logic board I thought I should clean it like I have all other parts for this rebuild. What is the safest way to clean any dirt or dust that may be stuck to it and are there any areas to the logic board that should not be touched or wiped in any way that are possibly too delicate? I want to make sure that I don't damage anything that wasn't damaged before especially due to something that was because of my lack of knowledge and for which I could have avoided.

Thanks Much for any advice on this. Your time is greatly appreciated!

iPhone 6 Plus: Need advice as to where to begin with fixing my iPhone 6 Plus

Within this past week I have posted a couple questions I had during the rebuild of my iPhone 6 Plus, which I’d like to say the answers I received were the most helpful and thank you to those of whom helped me out, you definitely contributed to me being able to completely rebuild my device. Now that it’s put together I’ve come across a few other separate issues. To give a little background this is an iPhone 6 Plus that had completely stopped working and wouldn’t turn on about three years ago so it’s been sitting stored away for some time. If I remember correctly before it completely stopped working it was having some minimal ghost touch issues and the battery would get hot at times. So to fast forward a few years, last week I pulled it out, completely disassembled it along with another iPhone 6 Plus I bought for parts on eBay and began rebuilding it. Keep in mind that I am completely clueless as to what was wrong with the eBay phone or why it was being sold for parts. Most parts I used during the rebuild were from the eBay phone just because they looked to be in better condition except for the motherboard and the home button from my iPhone. Once I finished, I turned it on and it would flash with the Apple logo for a quick second and then the screen would just stay on a black screen. I tried to restart it and do a hard reset but got the same result, it would flash the Apple logo and the screen would just stay black. It also would show the dead battery image on the screen when it was completely dead and needed to be plugged in. Additionally, the battery would feel extremely hot after being on the charger for a short amount of time, I’d say about 30 minutes. I removed it from the charger and took a break for most of the day. Later that night I plugged it in again to charge for a bit because with it being on a black screen I couldn’t tell what the battery percentage was at and wanted to maybe connect it to my Mac and try to restore the settings or do a system recovery if it let me. Unfortunately, I fell asleep and a couple hours went by before I jumped up remembering the phone on the charger and it was almost too hot to touch. I let it cool down for a few hours and when I attempted to turn it on it wouldn’t turn on at all, not even a black screen. When I leave it plugged in the battery won’t even get warm, it’s just cold or room temperature. Whatever temperature that may be if it were powered off and just sitting on a desk. I’m sure that last incident blew out or killed the battery along with other components I’m not educated enough to know exactly which parts. So at this point I know I’ve done something to have to replace the battery and any other parts due to overheating it along with whatever possible reasons as to why it wouldn’t turn on prior to that. If anyone has any help to provide me with or guidance to direct me in the right direction I would be incredibly grateful and appreciate any suggestions or advice, because at this point I don’t even know where to begin or have the slightest idea which parts would be the problem parts.

Again, I can’t thank you enough for your time and consideration with helping me through this process. Thank you!

iPhone 6 Plus: Cleaning specific parts inside the front screen display

I'm fixing my front screen display by transferring different parts from another used iPhone 6 Plus model to my iPhone 6 Plus. My question is this, both devices have some dirt or look like they could be wiped clean in certain areas but are there some things that should not be touched at all due to it damaging the front screen display in one way or another? More specifically, can I wipe clean the back side of the LCD mirror and the thermal plate?
iPhone 6 Plus: Very weird no service issue but works fine with Vodafone..

Hi all

I thought I’d post this here to share an experience, and for anyone having a similar issue who may stumble across this thread - it may not provide a solution but it may save someone headache and effort trying to track this issue down. I’m not expecting an answer that will help with this, although I’d be seriously impressed if there is one!

I have an iphone 6 Plus, this phone was originally network locked to Vodafone. The phone works 100% fine with a Vodafone sim. This phone has now been unlocked by Vodafone around a month ago. Here’s the issue.. The phone will now accept sims from any network i.e it doesn’t show the sim locked screen, however I’ve tried several fully working sim cards from various networks with no luck! I have full reception in my area with Vodafone, O2, Three. When trying a Three sim card I get no service, Giff Gaff (operated by O2) I get no service. Strangely when I try an o2 sim, I get the o2 signal bars but they are all grey, so it shows o2 but with no signal and shows call failed whenever trying to make a call, however mobile data 3G and 4G works fine, with wifi switched off I can use 3G/4G with a reliable and fast connection. A Tesco sim (operated by o2) does the same. If I didn’t know better I’d have thought the phone may be blocked on these networks however o2 have confirmed it isn’t. To add to this I’ve managed to get the Three and Giff Gaff sim to work but only once after countless retries.

The IMEI is showing fine when dialling *#06#, the IMEI, modem firmware, ICID are showing in settings. The correct carrier also shows for all sims.

Inspecting the board there are no signs of water damage. It seems Tristar and Tigris have been replaced in the past. Struggling for ideas, and thinking it may be something baseband related I’ve reballed BaseBand and done the U1/V1 (long) jumpers. Needless to say this has made no difference. I’ve probed around in diode mode and found nothing that looks odd. Voltage wise I’ve found an issue with the output voltage from U_QPOET (VPA_APT), I’ve replaced U_QPOET and still have the same issue so I think this is more of a symptom than a cause. I’ve also replaced U_WTR_RF but to no avail.

I can only conclude there must be trace that has been damaged or possibly a cracked ball somewhere, but it seems whatever it is isn’t required by a Vodafone sim, which I find very interesting. I’m not sure if this is purely coincidence that the original provider was Vodafone, I think it must be. I’m not sure if there is some fundamental difference in how a Vodafone sim connects which allows the Vodafone sim to work or if it’s because Vodafone was the original provider, or is there a data line broken that tells the phone how to connect.. I suspect it’s more likely that Vodafone/the setup on the Vodafone sim cards allow the phone to connect differently than other sims, the reason I say this is I still don’t see the correct output voltage from U_QPOET even when testing with a Vodafone sim.

Very very odd, it’s a shame but I think this is another phone heading for the scrap heap :(
