iPhone 7: Is there any way to fix these scratches?

Hello ifixit community! I am new to repairing and today I dropped my iphone and it slid across a concrete floor.

I was wondering if there is anyway to minimize the damage and to cover up some of the scuffs and scratches. I provided an image of the phone. Much appreciated!

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 Home Button Screws?

I have had to purchase a replacement bracket and screws for the home button on the iPhone 7.

On the iFixit guide, it says that there are 3x 1.3mm screws and 1x 1.1mm screw. However, with the parts I’ve purchased, I can’t distinguish between the different sized screws. And no, I do not have any callipers to measure the screws.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

iPhone 7: Touch ID and home button not working

I have just completed a LCD Display replacement on an iPhone 7. I successfully transferred over the original home button. I have checked both the button, and the connector, and there are no damages to either. Even after this repair, this is still not working. I have also taken this to a well known mobile repair shop to see if they could diagnose the issue for me, and they are in the same boat as I am. Has anyone else come across this, and if so, how did you get around this?

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 home button is too sensitive after screen replacement.

Hi, I recently replaced a screen on an iPhone 7 and every went smoothly. I have been doing screen replacements for years now and always take my time. Anyway, this was my first time doing an iPhone 7 and when I plugged the screen in to test it everything worked fine except for the home button. All it took to register a home button press was just resting my finger on the button. If I were to actually go about pressing it like normal it would register about 10 clicks and would vibrate a lot more. I'm not really sure where to go from here.

iPhone 7: How to remove blacklist?

A relative of mine recently purchased an iPhone 7 (AT&T) online. Upon the arrival of the "not blacklisted/stolen" phone, they later found out that it was reported stolen by what I can only assume was the seller in this case. So how does one actually go about removing the blacklisted/stolen status off this phone?

Customer claims that pre-iOS 12 the device still wouldn’t record audio, and updated in hopes of fixing it. Still no dice, any ideas?

The phone records video just fine, but there is a complete lack of audio. (I tried using third party apps, the external mic on headphones, the whole sha-bang.) As for voice memos, the record option is quite simply grayed out and unavailable. Is it a chip issue on the board, or?

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 No front camera plastic holder/bracket/clip in replacement

Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of replacing the screen on my Iphone 7. Starting to reassemble the front camera and noticed that the replacement screen doesn't have the two plastic holders/brackets for the front camera and proximity sensor (see link) like my old screen does. Is this going to be a problem? Is it possible to transfer them over from the old screen (they seem to be stuck on there pretty tightly...)? If I have to purchase these how do I attach them, would an adhesive of some kind be necessary?

Thanks in advance

iPhone 7: Unable to Activate "An update is required to activate your iPhone"

I just got this iPhone 7 to repair. It was boot looping, so I put in a different battery. It was still boot looping, so I put it in recovery mode and plugged it into my computer and updated it. I eventually got to the iPhone Unavailable screen, so I put it back in recovery mode and restored it. It went to the usual "hello" screen and I got to the part where the it tries to activate, and all it says is "Unable to Activate an update is required to activate your iPhone. Learn more at apple.com/support"

I already updated it, so this error isn't making sense to me... Could this be an issue with the carrier or a hardware issue? I had another iPhone 7 previously that had a damaged chip that made it so that you couldn't connect to cellular or activate the device. Could that be the issue here? Or is it simply iCloud locked?

Thank you for the help!

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 dead after removing Baseband CPU

Hi guys, I have a dead iPhone 7 here. It was repaired by other shop before coming to me. It was a poor repair by someone. They tried to remove the audio chip but failed. I can see they used lot of heat trying to remove the audio chip and shorted it underneath. Knowing the cause of the short, I swiftly removed the audio chip, now the short was gone, the phone was able to turn on without any issue, however, I noticed the baseband was gone, there is no firmware in settings . I guess the baseband was somehow disturbed in the previous failed repair. There is no option left but to remove and reball the baseband CPU. I successfully removed the baseband CPU and without pulling any pads. However, the phone won’t turn on. :(

My question is, will an iPhone 7 turn on without a baseband CPU? I know iPhone 6 series can turn on without a baseband, but I am not sure on iPhone 7.

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 doesn't turn on after replacing battery, screen and dockconn.

I have an old iPhone 7 that has been laying around for quite a while. Since there's still some data on the phone that i'd like to retrieve i tried fixing the phone a couple of times. In the process of tinkering around for fun i broke the screen and the battery cables. So i decided to buy a new battery, a new screen and a new dock connector. I replaced those parts a couple of days ago.

Now, however, the phone doesn't turn on at all. When i press the power button nothing happens; when i connect the phone to the charger, nothing happens either. I thought i had replaced all the broken parts, but perhaps the logic board itself is broken? If so, how could i check this?

Thanks in advance!
