iPhone 7: Home Button not working after screen replacement.

Hi all,

first post here!

I’m having some trouble with a screen replacement I did.

I bought a used genuine iPhone 7 screen from eBay, replaced the screen and my home button won’t respond whatsoever, it doesn’t bring up the assistive touch until I activated it through settings, and TouchID fails.

So, I did the obvious and put my old screen back on, and I could click the home button and it worked fine. ( I would keep the screen if it wasn’t glitching and the LCD wasn’t smashed *sigh*)

I contacted the seller, he said to restore the phone, but it didn’t work either.

Any advice?

iPhone 7: Can I replace my iPhone 7 Home Button on my own or only by Apple?

I recently replaced the screen on my iPhone 7, and I also have to replace the charging port. But after replacing the screen I noticed that the home button stopped working (Touch ID doesn’t work either).

I’ve read online that this could either be a fault of the screen itself (because it connects to the home button) or the home button could be busted.

But I also read that you can’t replace the home button on your own and you need a genuine Apple home button to gain full functionality back, aka Apple can only replace your home button for you. Is this still true? If this still applies, then why does iFixit sell home buttons for the iPhone 7 in their store?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

iPhone 7: Home Button not working after logic board removal

My friend gave me her iPhone 7 to sort out the Charging dock, and to do that you need to remove motherboard, I’ve done all that as I’ve done on many other iPhones, but this time something went wrong and don’t know what exactly as after putting everything together switching the phone on, I’m receiving information Unable to activate Touch ID, and home button is not reacting for touching it, it’s like HB died!?, I’ve put another spare iPhone 7 HB (working one) from different phone and had the same information about TouchID but still when I pressed HB there was no reaction from it. I know fitting new HB will disable TouchID but will not disable his functions! Any idea if that can be fixed?, or what could go wrong? Every screw was put in the same place from where it was taken out, all the connections are solid.

Any suggestion will be great

iPhone 7: After fixed iPhone 7 audio IC, the phone won’t charge

Hi guys, I have an iPhone 7 here. It has classic audio IC problem: Grey-out speaker and takes ages to load. As usual I removed the big audio chip, did the jumpers, installed the IC, then I started to notice something is not right: the phone is warm and took ages to load, the system is very laggard, and the phone wouldn’t charge. I disconnected the charging flex from motherboard, then the phone was back to normal, the phone was quick to start and everything seems working properly with the charging flex disconnected. I tried two new charging flexes, same thing happened. As soon as I connected the charging flex, the phone was warm and slow to start.

Because the phone worked fine before I did the audio IC repair. I thought somewhere is shorted under the audio IC. So I removed the big audio chip, however the pads looked fine. Nothing is shorted under the chip. I installed the audio IC back to the board. Again same thing happened. The phone is warm and slow as soon as I connected the charging flex. The phone would work fine with charging flex disconnected.

I want to ask, does the audio IC has anything to do with the charging flex? I checked the components around the charging connector. They all look good. None of them was disturbed.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 BB CPU itself shorted

Has anyone had any Iphone 7 BB CPU shorted yet? I have done several 4013 and -1 repairs on these and recently took in 2 phones from a shop in Florida where I had a short on BBPMU_TO_PMU_AMUX1 and PP_1V0_LDO9 on one phone and just PP_1V0_LDO9 on the other. After removing the BB CPU the shorts went away on both, so I reballed and placed it back and shorts came back. Thinking I just made a mistake, I reballed both again and shorts came back a second time. I then checked those lines on the BB CPU and sure enough they are shorted within the BB CPU itself.

1. Has anyone else experienced this ...

2. I have NAND Programmer(s) but nothing for BB CPU... Is it even possible? Or does anyone have a programmer to reprogram new IC's?

I had a friend look at a phone that was stuck in a boot loop. The boot loop lasted for about 5 months? After he fixed it (he said all he did was mess with iTunes until it finally started), there was a Caution triangle to the left of the “No Service” in the left. I figured if I restored the phone, it would all be peachy. Nope. Now the phone is stuck on the “Hello” screen because soon after it goes “Unable to Activate": An update is required to activate your iPhone.” No idea where to go from here.
iPhone 7: Why is my iPhone 7 boot looping after a screen replacement?

So a few days ago i bought a used iphone online. It had a cracked screen but worked just fine. I ordered a new screen and replaced it. After replacing it the problems started to happen. It would continuously boot loop.

I've tried to restore it using itunes several times. Sometimes it worked, but i couldn't get past the "hello" screen as the home button doesn't work anymore... I had to turn it back off in hopes it would start at language selection screen. Unfortunately, almost every time it shuts off it would go back into a boot loop. I've tried reconnecting the old screen too, but it's still boot looping.

I'm wondering if this is a software issue or if it's a hardware issue. If it is a hardware issue, is it the screen that sends it into a boot loop or can it be due to something else?

Any help would be much appreciated!

The seller keeps saying everything was working and that I have broken it but I have been fixing iPhones for a while and had no problem like this even though I had been really careful with it. I don’t know what to do if eBay choose not to let me return it as apple is going to charge a lot to fix the home button. Is there anyway I could fix it without having to put more money into it? Also the phone takes a really long time to turn on which probably has to do with the home button not working.
