iPhone 8 Plus: iPhone 8 plus home button not "clicking" after screen replacement.

I have been repairing iphones in my business for 3 years now. Yesterday I replaced the screen and digitizer on an Iphone 8 plus. The home button was intact and functioning on the original screen. After the repair when I tested the phone, the home button would not respond to the "click" function. I realize that the iphone 7 and 8 no longer have an actual button, but they do vibrate to give the feeling of a click and the function is still there, to return to home and double click to close apps. The finger print reader was functioning , and read the owners fingerprint, but the button wouldn't click. I then reassembled the original screen and the home button functioned correctly. I called the vender who I had order the screen from to request a replacement for what i thought was a defective screen. I was told that it is hit and miss on iphone 8's - and that is was surprising that the home button worked at all. I did some searching on the internet and can't find anything about , the original home button for the iphone not working with a replacement screen. Is this really a hit or miss issue, or did I just have a defective screen. I can't offer a screen replacement and take away the function of the person's home button.

This is probably the THIRD iPhone 8 or 8+ that has had this issue. Even though we were careful to remove the camera flex cable and the tape with it, and transfer it to the new LCD/Digitizer assembly, the earpiece REFUSES to work. The camera works just fine. I need assistance and answers. I have cleaned the contacts with alcohol. I have installed Kapton tape. I have switched out the piece with a new flex cable and new ear piece speaker. Yet, I know it worked BEFORE we took the phone apart. Suggestions on how to use the ORIGINAL flex cable?

Hello!!

I recently broke my phone screen and got it replaced (not at Apple). The colors of my phone are all messed up now. The contrast + saturation of my screen is really high, and all my pictures look really ugly and distorted now. I tried fixing it in settings in color filters, but it didn’t work; the contrast and saturation are too high. Also my increase contrast is off. What do I do??

iPhone 8 Plus: Shuts down at around 50% after Battery Replacement

Hi, I replaced the Battery of my iPhone 8 Plus 2 days ago but it shuts down at ~50% even after following the instruction to recalibrate it. When plugging it in after it shut down the percentage shows 13% or 20% but shoots up to around 50% within a minute of charging. The battery health settings as well as coconutBattery show 100% Health. Should I keep calibrating the battery or is the battery defect?

Update: After it shut down I let it sit for around 12 hours to make sure the battery gets as "empty" as possible. This caused the phone to start charging from 1% as intended. However, as seen on the image below, it jumped to 100% within a short time after it reached 50%. I had let it charge for another few hours after it reached "100%", and used the phone as usual after unplugging it. It worked fine and the battery lasted long until it reached 49% like before, resulting in the phone shutting down abruptly. I don't know what to do at this point, should I request a replacement from iFixit? Assuming it's maybe a defect. It's an iFixit Battery by the way.

Update 2: March 16th. iFixit has sent me another battery assuming this one has a defect.

Update 3: March 29th. The new battery has the exact same behaviour unfortunately. After several premature shutdowns, iOS has now applied the Performance management (also known as Throttling). I will leave it enabled for now to see if it somehow manages to calibrate the battery now.

Update 4: April 10th. The problem still has not resolved yet. In fact, iOS now shows a "Service" status in the Battery health settings. Telling me that the "battery's health is significantly degraded" even though the Maximum Capacity shows 99%. Pretty weird, pretty interesting.

Update 5: May 10th. Still no improvement. Still hasn't calibrated. Maximum Capacity reports a value of 56% now. Even though the battery is less than 2 months old.

Final update: June 20th. I contacted iFixit Support once again and they sent me a third battery free of charge. Fortunately this time the battery has no defects or some sort of. No sudden shutdowns etc. One thing I’m not very satisfied with is the capacity of the battery. It has the same capacity as an original Apple battery for the 8 Plus but it feels weaker. If I remember correctly when my 8 Plus was new the fresh apple battery inside it held charges for longer than this new iFixit battery. Though the difference is that back then I was on iOS 11. So that might make a difference, I guess. But anyways, this new battery should allow me to use my 8 Plus for a little bit longer until I finally upgrade to a newer iPhone.

Goodbye and stay healthy.

iPhone 8 Plus: Touch not working after repair (PSA)

I use very high quality aftermarket parts from a supplier who backs them with a lifetime warranty. The 3d functions almost identical and the color and brightness are almost spot on to OEM. The main reason I use these is because most customers care about cost and nothing more. Atleast, that is my experience ( I fix around 40 phones a month for extra income). Overall, I have very little issues with their screens. I said all that to say this/ask a question.

Today, I attempted to repair an iPhone 8 plus. I have fixed two recently with no problems. After testing the screen before snapping it in, all was well. After installing it all the way the touch functioned fine, but after I locked and unlocked the phone, the touch died. I tried reseating cables, pulling the screen out to sit on cardboard incase of grounding out etc. Nothing worked. I tried another 8 plus screen from a different supplier. This time the touch never worked. I started to panic, because I believed I had blown a fuse or cap that controls the touch. I tested the broken original screen and it worked fine. I tried two more screens with similar results to the first attempt. It worked fine, but after locking and unlocking the phone the touch wouldn't work.

I gave up, since I was out of screens and gave the phone back broken, but working.

Now here's what worries me. I noticed the phone was updated to iOS 11.3 yesterday. I just successfully repaired an iPhone 8 plus yesterday from the same batch of screens. I confirmed with the customer that she had not updated to iOS 11.3. What are the chances that I had 4 bad screens exhibit the same behavior from two suppliers? Im hoping this isn't a glitch in iOS 11.3 and if it is, will it affect screens across all models? Yes, I know it's best to choose original repair parts or at least original refurbished parts, but customers don't want to pay 50 to 60 bucks more on average for a repair even after I explain the differences.

iPhone 8 Plus: iPhone battery not showing after replacement, plus one more

After replacing my battery, it was working fine for weeks. But suddenly, my phone started rebooting with the battery percent not showing and the battery indicator being red and low at the beginning of the restart. After that, my phone works fine. Once i opened it back up and re-seated the battery cables the battery percentage never came back and the phone acts like it’s nearly dead, despite the near 100% charge on the phone.
iPhone 8 Plus: True Tone Option Disabled on iPhone 8 Plus Running iOS 12

Hello! I'm pretty sure many of you are familiar with the bug that disables the ambient light sensor and true tone display on the 8+ with an aftermarket screen. I'd like to get some feedback from users using iOS 12 on an iPhone 8 and 8 Plus w/ aftermarket display. Does yours work perfectly? Here's what happened with mine

-Running iOS 11.4.1. Installed a new screen and True Tone was working perfect but the ALS was disabled.

-Here's the twist. Updated today to iOS 12 beta 3 now True Tone is disabled (missing) and now the ambient light sensor works but is kinda slow imo.

Can anyone share their experience? Hopefully Apple with enable BOTH True Tone and the ALS

P.S. I ordered a used genuine original screen cause I'll be keeping the phone (not selling got it for only $280!) hopefully everything would work with it and will update this post.

iPhone 8 Plus: Rear Camera & Flashlight Not Working

I realize there are a lot of topics on this issue, but I’m looking for some information specific to an iPhone 8 Plus.

I acquired an iPhone 8 Plus that was an absolute MESS.

I had to replace the back housing, screen, charging port, battery, and numerous brackets/screws.

Surprisingly I was actually able to get it working. However, the rear camera only shows a black screen and the flashlight doesn’t work.

I replaced the mute/volume/power flex cable which did not fix the flashlight.

Am I understanding correctly that if the rear cameras are broken, then the flashlight function will not work either? Just trying to figure out of it’s worth purchasing replacement rear cameras or if this could be a logic board issue.

Thank you in advance.

iPhone 8 Plus: What glue can be used for back glass replacements?

I am looking for the best adhesive/cement/glue to be used when replacing the back glass of a 8/8plus x/xr/xs/Xsmax. When using a glass separating machine you are left to put on a new glass but nothing I can find seems to have the same holding capabilities as the original adhesive. I heard Apple uses some sort of cement so I tried Dap’s contact cement multiple times but it’s still doesn’t have the same hold and the glass can usually be removed very easily. I have heard of e-7000 and all those glues but they don’t seem to work that well either, if you have any suggestions on how to apply or use or any adhesives in general please let me know I’m surprised no one else has already asked this question considering how long these phones have been out.

iPhone 8 Plus: How long does battery calibration take?

Last week I replaced my iPhone 8 Plus battery with an iFixit replacement. I followed the recommended steps for calibrating it, and kept cycling the battery full to empty and back when using the phone for the next couple of days, but it consistently shuts off at around 45-50% battery. It does last longer than the old exhausted Apple battery did, so it seems the capacity is fine, it’s just the calibration that’s off. Is this something that will fix itself with usage? Thanks.
