iPhone X: How to recover data from water damaged iPhone X?

I recently dropped my iPhone X in a puddle and, despite the water resistance, it suffered water damage. The iPhone will not turn on at all, and when I connect it to my computer, the device does not show up. This may be a reach but is there any way for me to recover the data from the phone at this point? I had some things on there that were really important that I would like to get back if possible.

iPhone X: Phone restarting after charging port replacement

I’ve seen similar questions, but no definitive answers on them. I received an iPhone X that worked all except car play after having a drop of coffee spilled in the charging port. I couldn’t find any solution to this software wise, so I replaced the charging port.

I gave the phone back and now the phone seems to keep restarting after a minute or two. I tried all the possible software fixes and they didn’t work, I also looked at the board and it still has all the black covering on it so I couldn’t see any issues with it.

I’m hoping someone has any experience with this as at this point I’m stumped. Is it maybe possible I got a part charging port and that’s what’s affecting it? Should I strip off the black covering on the board and look deeper? I’m looking for anyone’s insight who may have been in a similar boat, or at least have a better idea than myself. Thank you.

Also I’m not sure if it will help but it’s a model A1685 and had no prior repairs done to it. I can also provide pictures if needed.

iPhone X: Renewed iPhone X with a really unique battery issue, please comment it

Dear readers,

I already wrote a post on this singular misfortune and @Minho suggested me that the battery may be faulty (thank you, Minho - the post is “sometimes battery % stuck/frozen and it won't charge only restart” on July 8th). I bought a renewed iPhone X, it was perfect with battery health at 99% but after 1 month it started a strange fault: from time to time the battery level remains frozen and the iPhone doesn’t recognizes any charger (wireless or wired, original or not). Actually even if is apparently it is not able to recognize the charger, the charge takes place (you can feel the warm device). In the same time if I look at the graph for the battery level, I see the lack of the last statistics while there was activity (look the picture).

It looks like the battery disconnects from a software point of view but actually it is physically connected. Only a restart of the device resolves temporarily the issue. This problem is haunting me also because I can't replicate to show it when I want. Further this it seems that the issue does not appear when I remove all my personal configurations with my AppleID (but I am not sure about this latter point). The repairers return the device to me saying “no fault found” and I can't enforce my warranty rights after paid €650,00.

Of course there are some clues that point towards a SW problem but the firmware is updated to the last release 12.3

In your opinion is it a possible hardware fault? ... or software fault? Do you know if the battery has an electronic embedded assembly that could be the responsible of this kind of fault?

What other check can I do? I could replace the battery by myself but I don't know if it's the right strategy. Please your comment will be much appreciated.

Thank you

iPhone X: iPhone X Water Damaged - Safe to Sell for Parts?

Due to an unfortunate canoe incident, my iPhone X sustained water damage - I opened it up and tried to dry it out, but to no avail. It's currently stuck in a constantly rebooting cycle where the Apple logo appears for a second, then restarts. No success on doing a restore either.

Screen appears to be intact. I had a full backup so no need to keep the phone. Question - is there any risk of selling the phone for parts with respect to the data on the phone?

Because the phone doesn’t power up, I’m not able to wipe the device. It was password protected. Thanks in advance for your help.

iPhone X: iPhone X replacement screen popping up

I replaced my iPhone X screen with the OLED screen from iFixIt. I am running into an issue with the screen popping up a little on the upper right side. I have to continually push it back down into place. It won’t stay put for more than a few minutes. I have tried replacing the adhesive around the screen 3 different times now because I thought I had just messed that up the first time, but it always starts popping back up again. It doesn’t pop up a large amount, just enough to be annoying and slightly inconvenient. Has anyone else encountered this? Could this be an issue with the tolerances of the replacement screen from ifixit the phone body being too loose? Perhaps the screen is just slightly too large???

Any thoughts or insights as to how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.

iPhone X: Touch screen sometimes stops working and takes long to start

Hi!

I in the beginning of may I bought a refurbished iPhone X, the phone looks like it’s in perfect condition and worked perfectly until last week sometime.

Sometimes when I want to unlock it, the screen is not responsive at all. If I turn it off than and back on (with the power button) it takes a while for the screen to light up and it still won’t work. After a while it suddenly works.

This also happens while I am on the phone. Please see the video below, that shows what happens.

https://youtu.be/Ppk-1326Rq4

I just reset the phone back to factory settings to see if it was a software problem but I can’t even set up the phone again because it keeps happening, so that obviously did not work.

If anyone has a solution, please let me know! I have some experience opening up iPhones as I fixed a couple iPhone 6s and 8’s so that won’t be a problem. It would be better if I don’t need to do that though! :)

Thanks in advance!

iPhone X: How to tell if iPhone x screen is worth repairing

So I got an iphone x with a broken screen from a friend of mine. The iphone wont show any sign of life but he assured me there was no water damage done to the phone. He dropped the phone without the case causing the screen to be really damaged.

I would love to order a new screen for this iphone but how do I know if the screen is worth replacing? Because if I invest the money for a new screen and it still does not work I would lose the money put in to the screen. Is there a way to figure out if it is just the screen that is broken or if the whole phone is damaged?
