Is this a motherboard issue? I’ve never experienced this problem before. I would assume if it’s as serious as the motherboard being damaged that I would have other issues.

Here is what I know:

• face id fails to detect a face during the setup process. Keeps sending the two messages: move iphone a little lower/higher
• Animoji works ok though
• Flood illuminator also works as I can see it with an older camera
• Proximity sensor and autobrightness are functionally
• Attention thing works (when picking up the phone it turns display on if it detects any human face)
• Front camera works (without any blur) aside from the portrait mode (It says move further away and only takes a normal photo)
• Back camera works ok, portrait mode is functioning
• Phone has liquid indicator turned red (unfortunately I haven't saw this before buying it)
• The phone seems to have been opened up before as the adhesive was loosen whet I opened it up.
• I have tried to clean the dot projector and the infrared camera along with the lens on the front glass but without luck
• I have tried also the DFU restore, and every type of reset
• Iphone is running ios 12.3

My question is that if the display is changed without transferring the other components from the glass assembly, will iphone send the faceid unavailable error or it could just never let you setup it like in my case?

Has anybody been able to repair an iphone x with these symptoms?

I want to know If anyone has replaced iPhone X rear cover glass, I know its replaceable but I'd like to get some more details on this repair, will it look so obvious to tell it has been replaced after replacement?

I've watched the repair on an iPhone 8, is it similar? and what to avoid?

Are there any recommend suppliers to buy a glass cover from?

Which method is better and safer, taking the board out and prying the rear cover?

Any recommendation would be appreciated.

So I dropped my iPhone X on the floor!

Fortunately, neither the back nor the front glas has cracked.

But the phones does face another problem since then.

Shortly after the drop it shut down completely.

When I tried to turn it on again, the iTunes Symbol appeared.

When I tried to restore it, error 4013 appeared.

Of course I tried everything that is mentioned in divers troubleshooting guides like changing the USB port, changing the cable etc.

Of course I also tried the whole restore procedure in DFU mode and so on.

So please does someone know a REAL solution to this problem?

After a week, it no longer got hot but got an occasional green vertical line. Again, phone off, and after half a week no more issues.

All functions of the phone now work, but FaceID does not work anymore. I took it to the Apple store, and whilst they said that all it would take would be to reseat the camera unit (or something along those lines), they would not work on it due to evidence of water damage.

Any insight or advice would be appreciated, if its an easy fix id like to get in there and sort it out! After all, FaceID is half the reason I love the new phone.

I completely hard reset the phone and took the phone to Apple care as it was under warranty. After a days inspection, they said that they cannot service it as it was water is inside which they identified from LCI color.

Now am struck and feeling really disappointed that this phone is not working fine and no one is out there to help in apple.

Can somebody support me with your views?

Can I have some hope of getting this serviced at-least from an unauthorized service center or any first aid I can do about myself?

Can i buy all the parts and assembly it at home??

The first time it landed backside down and I noticed that a small black spot that sort of resembles ink appeared. I dropped it again today, it landed the same way, and the spot got bigger.

I can still control my screen directly on where the black spot is im just not sure what it is or how it could be repaired

I also have my iPhone X with a perfect screen, Face ID working also..

Decided to swap screens because i was curious to see the inside and work on them.

Swapped screens and neither Face ID work, i straight swapped them without removing anything from either screens.

I Follow some google steps by resetting settings etc on the originally broken phone because mine is jailbroken but still not working. I move the screens back to the original phones and they both work fine with Face ID..

What causes this? Am i missing something?
