I need to replace the battery in my iPod nano 1st gen and 6th gen as well as two 4th gen iPod touches and one 5th gen iPod touch, but I do not believe I am skilled enough to tackle this repair yet. Does anyone on here offer battery replacements for these devices or know of someone who does?

This might be a dumb question, but I received 2 nanos yesterday (a first and second gen) The first gen seems to be cooked but the second gen works pretty okay, but the center button does not work. It clicks but there is no software click sound. I was thinking I could maybe switch the click wheels? If anyone else has any ideas i’d love to hear them.

Boots and gives a prompt to go to www.apple.com/support/ipod upon startup, it continues to give the same message after resetting from the diagnostics screen and by pressing the center and menu buttons. also is not recognized by my pc although I think that is just because It needs to charge from the wall for a while first because the battery is so low,

I love my 2gb white 1st gen iPod nano, that being said I was sad when I lost it four years ago and just recently found it. when plugged it only gives a white screen. I’m 95% sure that the logic board is dead as it makes a quiet humming noise as well and I can not get it to read off of my computer. However, I bought it with 350ish songs on it that I really like and are now nostalgic to me and I don’t want to lose them and I can not put them back on there as I don’t own them and I can’t remember all the songs on there. So is there any way I can save them? Could I even take the drive and plug it into a different logic board, or is that even possible because there are two screws holding it in and looks to only be held in with adhesive besides the screws? So is there anyway and I mean ANYWAY that I could save my childhood? Thank you so much for reading and have an amazing day/night or whenever your reading this

iPod Nano 1st Generation: Unable to restore via itunes, or reformat via windows 7. Advice?

Hello. So, this is an old ipod I found laying around the house. When it's in normal mode, not connected to anything, it tells me to restore it in tunes.

I try to do so. It isn’t going through successfully. Itunes (it is up to date,) recognizes this ipod, but recognizes that it's in recovery mode.

So, I also try to reformat via windows. No luck. The error message “Windows is unable to format disc x" pops up, even with the correct default settings.

No idea what else to try. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver a few times, went into diagnostic mode to see if anything stuck out, (I'll be honest, I don't understand any of it, but I took pictures of a few of the screens…) and put it into disc mode to see if itunes could restore it then too. (Itunes won't even recognize it in disc mode.)

So, I've tried to restore via itunes, reformat via windows, go into disc mode, and have reset it manually many times. It still tells me to restore my ipod via itunes.

No idea what to do. Some advice?

sorry for my English

my iPod nano 1gen has a dead battery and it turns on when plugged with power adapter but it doesn’t turn on or sync when plugged with a PC, it shows only the screen of low battery.

If it was possible, I would use it without substitute the battery, but I would be able to sync in order to change the music I have in.

I tried with a cable like this https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/... but even if I could turn it on, it isn’t recognized by my PC…

What can I do?

I have another question, does this iPod compatible with Audible (.aa or .aax) audiobooks with DRM?

The replace battery fix kit requires soldering and, as a senior wife, this is WAY above my pay grade. Should I try and find someone to install the battery, or should I just transfer his playlist to a newer device - if that is possible.

iPod Nano 1st Generation: Factory Reset iPod and now it wants me to restore it.

Hi all, I restored my IPod Nano 1st gen on iTunes on my windows computer, upon doing so the ‘Do not Disconnect’ screen was continuously showing up I closed ITunes and it said it recognised an IPod in recovery mode, and it came up with the default name ‘IPod’ instead of the custom name. The screen was still showing ‘Do not Disconnect’ so after doing a bit of quick googling I did a hard reset which bought up the Apple logo. Then a screen came up saying I needed to restore it via iTunes. Will doing so factory reset it? As when I do it originally it seemed to not do it and now I’m stuck with basically a bric until I can find out exactly what to do.

My iPod charges from my USB cable and powers on, but is stuck on the main screen.

The Hold switch works and the lock icon turns on/off.

Holding Menu and Select to hard reset works, but doesn't fix the problem. Holding Menu and Pause/Play to enter Disk Mode doesn't work.

I let my iPod die and tested each button individually to see if it powered on, and it did for the menu, back, and select buttons, but not for play/pause or next.

Because most of the buttons register, I think it's a software issue, and have been trying to do a clean install of the OS, or switch to Rockbox, but I've plugged it into both a Windows computer and a Chromebook with two different cables, and tested all USB ports, and it won't register in iTunes or file explorer. It also doesn't show up in Device Manager or Disk Manager, so I can't update any drivers.

I'm comfortable opening my device, and I modded a full size iPod a few years ago to expand the storage, so recommendations for physical fixes would also be appreciated.

It was an iPod I got off of Facebook marketplace a while back and the buttons didn't work when I received it, but at the time I was able to transfer music to it through iTunes.

Any ideas on what to try?

ive restored my ipod and then i couldnt sync it , tryed on my moms mac which it worked and i could hear music on it so sync it and etc!!! i restored it on my moms mac but it doesnt want to sync back! whenever i go to music on my moms mac it says like finish configuring in finder but on finder it only says restore the ipod and the version of it . and i cant even see the ipod in music on my own mac! help me pleasseeee i would love some recommandations. also i use an usb convertor so ye

i reccently found a 4g ipod and i reseted it and all stuff with finder . then im trying to put like a song in y ipod but it doesnt work! i mean it copies in ipod but not showing up . then i tried to like reset it like with like the middle button and the menu butto but still not showing up? the song is mp3 and tried installing it in a higher and lower version but still not showing up , and i eject the ipod correctly so that shouldnt be a problem . the music worked before on the ipod but i just wanted all deleted. and im not sure it the ipod needs to connect to the wifi or something or if i should put the songs in itunes?! i need help asap

iPod Nano 1st Generation: battery wire colour issue

Hi everyone.

I’ve just bought a replacement ifixit battery for my iPod nano 1st gen. However the battery in the iPod has three coloured wires (black, red, white) but the new battery has wire colours (blue, black, red).
I would just like to know which wires correspond to which. I’d rather not take a guess as I don’t fancy wrecking my iPod.

There was no support documentation with the battery to help me either.

iPod Nano 1st Generation: iPod nano 1 won't charge or sync

I had a nano with a bad battery, so I changed it, but now it won’t charge, when it still had a charge left, it wouldn’t sync, so I think the port is broken or I need a firewire cable, I tried charging it with 5v 3A, but the battery contact shows 0,05v, so it kinds charges, but extremely slowly, after a few minutes of charging I’m able to press the button and it shows the apple logo for a second and shuts off ( low battery)

edit: I don’t know what I did but the battery voltage dropped to 1.85, half of the 3.7 it was supposed to have

I've updated to version 1.3.1 recently which required a reset and now my itunes music will not sync with the ipod. Any help on how to fix the issue would be much appreciated. I have tried

checking for update (it's up to date)

restoring the ipod again

Sync only checked songs with all songs checked

manually managing music

Enabling/disabling disk use

iPod Nano 1st Generation: iPod nano screen ZIF replacement

I recieved an iPod nano with the latch for the screen ZIF broken off. I want to order a replacement from digikey but I don’t know how to measure the pitch of the pins since they are offset in a weird way. Does anyone know the exact connector or know how to measure offset pins?
