iPod Touch 3rd Generation: replacing the audio jack. Finding a repacement.

Hi community,

I have to replace the audio jack module inside my iPod touch 3G. The original has one (ore more) defective contacts inside it.

I can't find a replacement or a guide for exactly that device here or in other shops. And I don't know whether the earphone jack module for the iPhone 3G (or 3GS) also fits in the iPod touch 3G.

Does anyone have the replacement for me?

iPod Touch 3rd Generation: Is it possible to fix a rarely working accelerometer, without opening?

For a while, my iPods accelerometer has stopped working. I've dropped it twice and have noticed a half-inch long dent on the back. The dent is in between the memory amount and the apple logo, all the way to the left. I am very frustrated with this problem. I'd rather not go to the Apple Store :3 I have noticed that if I leave my iPod on a flat table for 8 or so hours, it starts working for a second... I'm did not get an extended warranty, it doesn't really matter because I got it April 2010.

iPod Touch 3rd Generation: iPod Touch 3g will not charge

Hello there

I recently fixed an old iPod Touch 3rd gen. 64 gb where the touchscreen was not responsive. After fixing it, I was able to update the firmware to 5.1. Previously the firmware was 5.01 Right after that, the battery was not charging. The indicator in iTunes and on the screen itself were showing the battery life decreasing and a couple of time it warned me that the power was below 20%. I immediately connected it to a USB port to recharge it. Unfortunately, it did not work and it slowly used all the charge in the battery. iTunes does not recognize it anymore. So , I opened it up again to check the battery voltage. To my surprise, the battery voltage is 3.3 V and if I press the power button , the battery icon with the the red mark on the left shows up, but no matter how long I leave the iPod connected, it never improves the charge. Has anybody else experienced the same problem, I mean right after the 5.1 upgrade and any solution to this.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Massimo

iPod Touch 3rd Generation: After replacing display, iPod won't power up. What can I do?

Some time ago I dropped my iPod touch in water. I placed it in rice for about a week and eventually got it to work again. There were only a few problems:

-The up button on my volume control was faulty. Didn't respond to the press and would sometimes start going up on its own.

-Random performance issues causing the iPod to restart or turn off.

-After a week or so, the backlight of the iPod went dead.

I decided to open the device and see what I could fix. I bought a replacement display online, replaced it, and now my iPod won't power up. To be clear, I plug the iPod into my computer, the computer doesn't register that a device has been plugged in, and the screen stays black. I've tried using different iPod cables, different USB ports, and leaving the iPod connected for long periods of time to charge the battery. I've also tried clicking the home and lock buttons to try and turn it on.

Anyways, I'm not sure what could have gone wrong here. I'm not sure if this is just a side effect of dropping the device in water or if I accidentally wrecked something when I opened the device. I tried to be quite careful, but is it possible I cut a ribbon cable or something similar?

Other actions I performed while the device was opened:

-used canned air to dust the inside of the iPod (there was lots of dust and gunk that had accumulated on this inside)

-used rubbing alcohol and a paintbrush to clean off gunk and dust stuck inside the device

Any point in the right direction or ideas on where to look for damage would be very helpful. Thanks.

iPod Touch 3rd Generation: 32 GB iPod Touch smashed screen/digitizer. Replaced; LCD now dead.

My husband dropped his iPod Touch (32 GB) while working out on treadmill. Smashed screen and digitizer but could still see the LCD homescreen and notifications. I replaced it with this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0049PQ... which is a pre-assembled glass/digitizer/chassis bezel. This seemed to go well, but now there is no picture at all. I thought perhaps it needed charging so I plugged it in for several hours - still nothing. When I plug it in, it does "sound" like it's connecting to a charge, and when I plug it into his iTunes account it says it is updating his iPod. Still nothing shows on the iPod screen. Please help!

iPod Touch 3rd Generation: How do I know if screen is dry and OK?

Like others, the horror of the new iPod in toilet has befallen me.

In haste to turn off, I held the top button down. Screen worked then.

I dried it off as fast as possible.

I left it in rice for 8 hours. I know I should have waited longer, but the guilt and anxiety were overwhelming.

I looked at the water sensor and it looked white to me. Is it obvious when it has been triggered?

SO, I retrieved from rice. I plugged into PC. It was recognized. iTunes initiated a restore. I let it. Went to bed.

Next morning, itunes shows that all music and apps are on device. I diconnect. When I touch home button, whole screen is greyish-white and maybe some ripple like movement. I pass out from horror.

12 hours later I find this amazing site.

I pry open screen to see if there is obvious moisture. No.

When screen came off, one corner did seem to "stick" to LCD. Now, on LCD (the one under, glass, yes), there is a mark like oil on pavement after rain? You know? Slightly oblong, size of a dime. It is like the LCD in this spot is darker and the edge is almost yellow-copperish, like Saturn's rings.

Questions:

Is there a film on top of LCD? Should I try and remove it to see if there is water underneath?

How do I know if screen is dry?

What is that spot?

* Is battery and HD OK, but screen is messed up?

I have a 2009 3rd gen ipod touch 32 gig, the screen is unresponsive, even after replacing it 3 times.

I have performed a restore through itunes, and this has not resolved the issue. Running software version 5.0.1

The home button works, The power button works, pressing both together reboots the ipod. When i plug it into power at the mains, it makes a little beep.. all in all it looks as though it should work, but wont.

The screens i used came from ebay,

2 of the screens were sold as 'for ipod touch 3rd gen' and the ribbon stated it was for a 2009 with a code of 821-0908-02 (same code for both screens )

The 3rd screen was sold as for an ipod touch 3rd gen 32 - 64 gig and had a different ribbon code of 821-0856-04 for 2009

iPod Touch 3rd Generation: How can I get my iPod to charge again?

I have some serious problem here... I think I have a Faulty iPod. It is not the cable, it charges perfectly other iDevices. I have googled my problem so many times that I got tired of looking.

Today, after several months I'm trying to revive it again!

So some of the problems I have is:

-Battery is completely discharged. (Screen doesn't even turn on)

-Faulty connection (By the iPod, not the cable)

-I have tried holding the power and Home button, but it doesn't turn on!

I have sent it to get checked but they told me It could be a problem with the motherboard. However they weren't people from an apple store. Apple stores do not exist in my country/state. I still think it is just dead and could be fixed by properly charging it.

My questions are...

Do I still have a chance on reviving my iPod?
