Any advice on installing Jaguar on iBook G3 Clamshell?

I have a clamshell ibook and i'm trying to install jaguar on an os 9 system, it will start the disk but when it restarts in has a gray screen with the apple logo then all the sudden it gets lines through the middle of the screen and stops running the disk, any ideas on how to fix this problem, i bought this one and a tangerine one for christmas presents for the kids but they will get on the internet but won't bring up a full page or install updates because the system is to old, so i bought the jaguar upgrade because its supposed to be able to be the last upgrade you can put on these old buggers. any help would be appreciated, happy holidays jen
