This computer is compatible with 12.5mm drives. However, my recommendation would be to look for an AF (Advanced Format) drive to do the upgrade.

AF drives have larger per platter capacities, so these drives don't need to be as thick to have the capacity that is equal to a pre-AF 1TB drive. Many of the AF 1TB drives are 9.5mm, so these drives will fit in your computer without having to worry about the thickness of the drive.

-This computer is compatible with 12.5mm drives. However, if you look at new Advanced Format drives, "large" laptop drives are often 7mm-9.5mm, so this problem with 12.5mm drives is only on larger (~1TB) drives at this point.

-This computer can take 12.5mm drives no trouble. However, if you look at new Advanced Format drives, "large" laptop drives are often 7mm, or even 9.5mm now. They're no longer 12.5mm these days.
