How to move pictures in a file to my Powershot software

My computer was hacked. Before wiping it I put my pictures in a file and downloaded to a zip drive. After computer was clean, I reloaded my pictures,(now in their own file) and reinstalled the Canon software, assuming that the software would recognize the pictures and that they would merge. They did not. Now I have pictures in my computer, but I cannot figure out how to get them into Zoombrowser,so I can manipulate them. How can i do this?
