Why does it not record past 30 seconds

I bought this camera brand-new today the photo works fine on that however when I go to record it stops and cuts out after 30 seconds they are brand-new batteries and I know it can't be broken as I have only just on Boxst I bought this camera brand-new today the photo works fine on it however when I go to record it stops and cuts out after 30 seconds they are brand-new batteries and I know it can't be broken as I have only just unboxed it!
