That is pretty odd, just wondering, was the battery low when you was working on it? It also could be possible you shorted something out and the ipod had to reboot to "see" the screen again. This is true for Nanos 4th gen if they are left on while swapping screens, they still function fine but no display.

For the WiFi issue, i'll stay the obvious, probably a bad connection or forgot to hook up again.
