This is how I resolved my issue, I bought my cleaner from Amazon.com. I went back and read the product details, including the online owner’s manual. I notice there is a 60 day warranty. This malfunction happened just before my warranty was up, though I don’t feel time was an issue. Their customer service has an email address support@vornadoairllc.freshdesk.com and they seemed familiar with the issue and very apologetic. They wanted to know the month and year the cleaner was made. That is on the serial number on the bottom of the machine. My machine was made in July 2010. My replacement is October 2010. All they asked I do is sever the power cord and send a picture. I sense some production runs had a defect in either the design or manufacturing process. I hope my replacement lasts. If not, I found another brand that has incredible reviews.
