You'll need to do some sleuthing! You'll need a magnet and some steel paperclips. Hopefully you can get the system to alter its state.
-Take the paperclips and slide one on the inside surface of the lid around the side and top edges they should stick to the magnets that are located on the lid. carefully fold down the display so you can reference the location on the uppercase when the magnets hit. Now try your magnet sliding it on the uppercase to see if you can find the Hall effect detectors location (a wax pencil marker might help). One of the magnet locations should cause the the display to turn off. In any case it will give you an idea where to look for the hall effect sensor within the system.
