I literally had the exact same experience. I sent them in for the warranty after meeting with somebody at the apple store who assured me the warranty would cover this as he noted how clean my beats were.  Then beats denied my claim saying there was phyical damage when there had been nothing but wear and tear. It was an extremely disappointing experience. I would not recommend beats.
