I had the same issue and fixed it this way.
Step 1: Download WIC Reset Tool here: https://resetkey.net/download and install program.
Step 2: Connect printer to computer, connect computer to internet.
Step 3: Get the reset key : https://resetkey.net
-Step 4: To reset Canon G1000 5B00 Waste Ink Counter Error – You should be PUT CANON PRINTER IN SERVICE MODE!
+Step 4: To reset Canon 5B00 Waste Ink Counter - 5B00 Error – You should be PUT CANON PRINTER IN SERVICE MODE!
Step 5: Click on Clear Waste Counters then enter the reset key to reset your Canon printer 5B00 error
