I had this same problem. The light on the bottom was lit but the tv woulsn’tturn on. I tried the button on the TV as well as unplugging, and nothing changed. I don't understand why or how it works but I took the batteries if the remote out, held all the buttons down. Once I put the remote back together and pressed the power button it turned on! Weird.
