Currently experiencing his problem and after some research I’ve found that the problem is twofold. # The system design is defective with regards to the keyboard and trackpad. The ribbon cable is susceptible to disconnection due to pressure from a swelling battery and pressure from the backplate causing the motherboard side to pop out slightly(I’ve also found just typing on the keyboard can cause this to disconnect) # Apple uses SPI drivers instead of USB in macOS. For this reason, the keyboard will work outside of macOS. If you have windows installed via bootcamp, a seemingly faulty keyboard will work perfectly in windows because only USB drivers function there. Apple didn’t deem it fit to include USB drivers for their own laptop keyboard within their own OS because…¯\_(ツ)_/¯ # So even if you get 10 more ribbon cables to replace the original, you will experience this problem over and over with the A1502 model. It’s a design defect combined with questionable software choices that’s never going away. Best thing to do is wait for the 2020 13inch model and switch.
