Does the laptop go into sleep mode or is it that you lose the display intermittently? Does gently moving the lid back and forth (not closing) restore the display?
Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop’s HDMI port and check if there is still a display on it when the laptop’s display turns off. Even a TV can be used as an external monitor as long as it has HDMI inputs and you have the appropriate cable to connect the two together. Don’t forget to press Fn + F8 when the monitor is connected.

If the external monitor display remains on perhaps there is a problem with the laptops’s LVDS cable, cable connection at either end, motherboard or display or the display itself.

Does the laptop go into sleep mode or is it that you have just lost the display intermittently?
