I have replaced the battery in my mid2014 MacBook Pro. I purched the battery from OWC and it cost me $95. But two screw drivers were part of the package and included the stuff to loosen up the batteries from adhering to the case of the computer. My batteries were all expanded and easy to remove. When I got the bottom of the case back on, I tapped the on button and it came alive. I have taken note of the instructions to use the computer until the battery indicator at the top right of the computer is on the single digit and them shut it down and charge the battery for 12 hours. I have done that three times. The unit seems to be just like it was before changing batteries. OWC has been helpful to me during the two days I was learning about the SMC system. I lost a couple of screws, so live and learn.
