Otherwise, I would just replace it [product|IF123-078-2] As it’s easy to damage the cable its self in the process of taking it off the battery.
 
You’ll need to follow this guide [guide|133427] to get to the other end. Once you have the Touchpad out flip it over so you see the back side. Now carefully lift the ZIF connector latch from the middle so you can slide out the ribbon cable.

I don’t think you damaged the Touchpad its self. The process of replacing the battery shouldn't affect the trackpadtrackpad, the solvent won’t hurt the electronics. And lastly, the battery has no bearing on the Touchpad directly either.
