Sorry to tell you you can’t swap out the display’s you can thank Apple for that! You need access to a paywalled Utility that Apple calls a calibration tool.

Here’s the web site to order the replacement [https://support.apple.com/self-servicing-account-program|Self-Servicing Account Program]. You could try using the tool with your removed display to see if that works if it does just return the part unopened. I’m not sure if the site is fully hardwired to the replacement serial number or not, as I haven’t had a second display to try. If that works let us know.
