I also wanted to report that I was able to successfully remove my SD card by cutting a piece of plastic to the size of a smaller micro SD card, putting a smidge of super glue on the plastic, then cramming it in between the SD card and the metal enclosure of the SD card reader. I even super glued to broken SD card piece back on with the plastic.
Mske sure you stuck the plastic on the correct side, away, from the Steam Deck motherboard. The plastic should be touching the printed side of the sd card, not the side where the metal contacts are.

+I tried using tweezers but didn't understand the instructions here. I couldn't figure out a way to get the card out. Every situation is different but the super glue trick feels safe, as long as you are gluing to the plastic.
