Use a strong light and a magnifying glass to visually inspect the USB port to make sure that all the pins are there and that they're all straight and parallel with each other and not bent, broken or missing.
Also check that there's no debris in the port enclosure that may be preventing a good electrical connection especially on the two centre pins as these are the data pins.

If there is debris in the port enclosure, do not use a pin to remove it as you may cause electrical damage to the phone. Try using a vacuum cleaner instead.

If the port seems to be OK, try the following:
Insert a USB cable into the phone but do not connect the other end of the USB cable to anything at all. Leave it free.
Next firmly hold the phone in one hand and then grab hold of the USB cable plug that is inserted in the phone with the other hand and ''gently, (stress gently)'' try to move the plug up and down and side to side to check if you can feel any movement in the port connector at all, indicating that it may be loose from the board.
If the tests above seem to be OK then the phone will have to be opened and further tests conducted to find out what's wrong.
