@doubiousr not sure what Samsung told you to do, so some of this may be repetitious. STart your phone in safe mode and see if your can work you mic while in that mode. If so, you know that the issue will be related to a third part app. You will have to remove the apps you've installed until you find the one that causes the mic to fail. Next try to get into the Samsung Hardware Diagnostic Test Menu. for that you need to dial *#0*# for this. ere you can check the Speaker/Mic function. If that fails as well, you most likely will have to replace the mic. Luckily on your phone the main mic is soldered to the daughter board. The board is inexpensive and not terribly complicated to replace.
