Michael Nicholas, I would lift the commode and replace the wax ring. It is possible that it is leaking. Not really a terrible bad job. If your toilet is continuously running water, you want to check the float on the inside of the tank. Make sure that it is seated properly and that there is not debris where the surfaces mate.
