Sadly yes Apple on the first series 2016/17 did use a press fit pin design, later the went into a key way design which prevented this issue as the display won’t stay at the angle you wish.

Apple did have a extended service offering for this issue but I think that’s expired at this point. The only option from the. Should be replacement of the display assembly which is quite expensive.

I have been successful using cyanoacrylate glue to hold things. After fully cleaning the pin and hole of any junk and greases use a toothpick to wipe the inner hole and quickly press the pin in making sure you get it in fully.
